Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

As a one off, I enjoyed the commentary. It was as amateurish as it gets but so what? It's only the NAB. Some of the ripping they did on one another had me chuckling.

Hutchy - Minson was one of the senior players involved in the review of McCartney.

Pickers - Are you asking me?

Hutchy - Well you're the only other bloke in the box.

Replay available at http://bigpondvideo.com/. Note it will only be at that site for perhaps rest of today. Go to AFL TV tab on sport video. Bigpond only has last 2 games up.

The other option is AFL live pass but even you get a four week free trial you have to enter credit card details and if you don't cancel it roll over into weekly payments after 4 weeks

The Melbourne site has it available quarter by quarter in the video section. I watched the first half, think that will do me!

I'm very relieved to see that with the passing of (nearly) a day we are hearing the opinions of some more cool-headed customers regarding yesterday's match. There are always going to be your clueless panicky petes such as dazzledavey ("pencil us in for the bottom 3") but it is a good to see this is the minority. As others have mentioned, you only need to see Roosy's presser. There were several occasions last year where he was obviously seething at our performance and making little attempt to hide it. Yesterday showed no hint whatsoever of this. That's because he knows what happened on the scoreboard in the 2nd half yesterday is utterly meaningless.

Howe, Kent and Vince exist. Watts was the sub. Trenners and Petracca are on the LTI. Pedo, Brayshaw and Stretch were at Casey. Remember that.

Kent established himself as best 22 on the back half of last year...

Howe and Vince are the only ones who would slot straight in.

There was a reason Pedo was playing for Casey this week. Trenners and Petracca are obviously not best 22 because of their injuries and the last two are first year players.

What I should have said was, 'pretty much our best 22'.

I'm just happy to see we aren't kick it backwards as much and moving forward with some speed and spread.

The two way running was fantastic in the first half and looks like we will have some exciting footy to watch this season.

Doesn't matter who was playing it what position, the concern with me remains that we 18 players on the field (debatable how many are AFL standard) and we couldn't stop the run on. Surely we have such a tactic such as get the ball and slow the play down or something.

Tactics are far less important than the quality of the players on the ground at the time.

I spoke to a few of the coaches and players today (Family Day) about yesterday, I started by asking whether we stayed in the dressing rooms after half time

General consensus was we took our foot of the pedal, because it is just NAB Challenge and nobody wants to get injured, but the Doggies did lift, and we lost control in the midfield.

Roos seems only concerned with the last quarter, probably took foot too far off.

Think the first half showed the players what they are capable of.

As for some players not being AFL standard, that is posters opinions, if they are on an AFL list they are AFL standard.

Just when I think you are about to post something worthwhile about the game you go and add on that at the end and ruin it. Why bother? Unless you want to quote them directly and argue the case then let them have their opinions. You never bring anything to it, other than the same stock standard response that NOBODY buys. Your arguments are like the theological equivalent of saying "look, over there" and running in the opposite direction.

And I do agree with Roos - we took the pedal off far too much in the last. We did ok in the third into the breeze and then got complacent, thinking the breeze would do the work for us.

Yes and no Nasher, it's like champion team v team of champions argument. But let's go with that for this scenario, even if some of our key players were rested still would of thought there was enough quality out there to steady the ship once the Doggies had kicked their third straight. Practice match or not is has to be a concern.

I reckoned we smashed 'em!!

Toyed with them.

I don't care about the second half.

This is what I think...Roosy said, 'Righto boys, this is ROUND ONE! Hit them hard, hit them early, let's work on our structures and don't forget our discipline and training...let's do some damage!'

Half time....'Well done...I'm pleased so many are doing the job for us....We'll move a few of you around...'

Stop the hand wringing people. This is the best preseason form we've shown for a very, very, long time.

What's your beef with the Toump Clint? It seems that you're going out of your way to denegrate his game from yesterday. Thought he had a positive impact for the most part.

He did a few good things, but I just really sick of him getting the ball and allowing himself to be tackled all the time (as per the photo).

All the time is a slight exaggeration. He gets caught a little, true, but I think his ability to avoid those sorts of situations will come with more experience. 24 touches and 10 marks is a positive sign for him, as he hasn't been a huge accumulator for us since he was drafted. The good far outweighed the bad from yesterday.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
