Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

maybe saty could take a tape measure and some scales to the next session and checkout the whole team

i have been suspicious of a number of measurements on the mfc site

I sometimes wonder about them myself when you see two players who are supposedly different heights standing next to each other, from what I can gather by speaking to them, surprisingly a lot of players have no idea what their real height and weight is, they rely on \the fitness and medical staff, when you ask you get "I think', either that or they don't really care as much as we do

Just on the Spencer topic the one thing I absolutely love about him and a fair few of his teamates should seriously take a big leaf out of his book, is that he is always in the thick of the action sticking up for his teammates when they go down.

He goes in and bats for his mates and doesn't take a backward step. Remember he lost his [censored] against the cats Nab Cup when Toumpas when down and the week before he did it against Dustin Martin who was trying to rough up Daniel Cross, threw a few good ones at Warnock from the blues too.. He just loves a good scrap.

That game against Brisbane when Pedersen got dropped and no one ran in to stick up for him was one of the most disgraceful act I have seen the club dished up this year. Hopefully that will be the last we see of that.

And in the modern game get a few weeks for it, and lose your place in the team, that is why we don't see it these days, I know for a fact a couple of players have been warned to cut out the stupid suspensions, Roos is not a fan of the biff, he is teaching them to tackle legitimately to hurt

true, but waving the flag doesn't have to involve the biff (or anything else reportable)

He is not going out there and belting blokes Saty he is sticking up for his mates when they go down by getting into their faces and roughing them a bit. Big difference. Again most could take a leaf out of his book.

The only stupid suspension we had this year was Dawes against Richmond and North. Other then I personally don't see it as a big issue.

Is it just me or does it always look so forced or false when Spencer does it? Made me cringe a few times. It's as though he had been told "your the big bloke out, this is what you have to do" and he runs in and grabs a jumper and pushes it, but nothing ever actually happens. He doesn't intimidate anyone, just how it looks to me anyway. You see guys that go in to defend a teammate and your thinking "s#%t look out", but with big spencer I think he's more likely to clip himself if he tries to throw one

Vandenberg looks like a stick in all the photos I've looked at. Watts looked like Hercules beside him.

Is that really the case or is he a decent size?

Hit the nail on the head. Its not just 'skills' that is causing our problems. we need more competitive beasts out there. We have some youngsters coming through, but the older players like Garland, Dunn etc should never accept that.

You don't have to rush in and risk a suspension, you just go down the other end and score, we are not back in the 70's, you are not a hero if you retaliate, just reiterating the message from Roos, was ropeable with Dawes

As for Vandenberg, he is a decent size, just arrived from semi pro footy, looks like he can develop the body quickly though, similar in size and shape to McKenzie

I'm more interested in whether or not Spencer will ever learn how to mark, kick, handball, (insert any fundamental skill needed to play the game)..

As for his 'aggro' on-field, I really couldn't care.

You rarely see Jones remonstrating with opposition players or having scraps, yet he's our hardest player. As well as our best.

I think it's okay to admit that Spencer really doesn't offer much in the way of 'improving our side'.

His signing is nothing more than insurance incase one of Jamar or Gawn go down. I imagine we'll be targeting a mature-ish ruckman over the next couple of years.

Bigger through the hips. He looked big enough, if he is good enough.

Is he not from your neck of the woods?

Is a 56 touch game and consistent +30 disposals in the NEAFL warrant a rookie spot?

Couch and Magner won plenty of the pill at VFL level but their AFL career was very brief.

Yeah, biggest fish I have seen in the small Ainslie pond, but how that translates, I can't predict.

He will take the game on and play in and out if allowed to play midfield, but I am a jaded footy watcher now, I really can't say how he will go.

I really think he might struggle initially at Casey.

sooooo you're suggesting Spencer is some sort of softc0ck because he wasn't able to keep his feet when aggressively shepherded by a mature AFL player?

Nope, as I said, being aggressive does not at all seem natural to him, in my opinion. He flinches when king pretends to line him up after. If you go back and look at his tough acts you might see how unnatural they look. Just my opinion.

He is on his back on the floor and King goes to pretend to throw a cheap shot at a completely unprepared target. Despite how big you are natural instinct will cause a flinch due to the vulnerability of the position.

Stupid Spencer, he should have got up and thrown a haymaker to make himself look tougher. Your last three posts make you sound like the biggest dork, kinda guy who throws a cowards lunch on the footy field and thinks he is the king

Bit rough. Never mentioned anything about myself. There is clearly players that aren't naturally aggressive and I said I thought jake is one of those. Also said he does go in and try to do it, which is more than others.

But hey, guess this isn't one of those forums where you can express your opinions without people attacking you personally.

And just to clarify, I've played 200+ for just the one suspension.

I never said you were but rather you sound like, still probably disagreed with your comments as you did attempt to use footage of him on his back as an indication that he is not really tough.

Congrats on the effort, it often does my head in how people expect players to remonstrate outside of the rules and that was how i interpreted your posts.

WGAF about Jake KING,

Tattooed midget with a speech impediment, jailbird mates and very little future.

He could rent his teeth out to open cans if he falls on hard times.

Flinched? Looked to me that he was about to hit him and either realised that doing it when he was low down was stupid, or he remembered that Roos wouldn't congratulate him if he did whack him. Anyway, who cares, the real issue is can he improve his skills.

Yeh he's a killer

If you are seriously suggesting Spencil doesn't have mongrel then you don't know what you are talking about,.

Keep in mind a 6'6" bloke shepherding against a midget is likely to end up at the tribunal for head high contact.

I dont think he shirked the issue , He took a bump when off balance and went down in a tangled heap.Did appear to shape to throw more when both players realised the stupidity of any such contact.

There is a need to play hard when required.

I think that teammates are that, this is not just an individual game, Support must be given. it should always be within the rules and certainly size and strength should be applied to advantage which will sometimes include intimidation by presence.

It seems Roos knows how and when to use aggression and is teaching our team well.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
