  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

THE ESSENDON 34: ON TRIAL

You would have to think that if there was ever any doubt in anyone's mind that the players were taking banned substances and that there was a systematic/organised off-site program of injections taking place (or a thought that lack of hard evidence could somehow wash), then this must put an end to that doubt.

"but the player does not have an infraction notice."

Wow. Further news. This is huge

Windy Pill Mens Room is taking a lot of traffic right now. Mobile phones to the ear

I can see Frank Underwood from "House of Cards" in there working out the numbers of Little and his Board now....

Choc Top anyone? :)

One has to wonder why the player in question felt the need to seek a suppression order. It may of course be a perfectly reasonable request, but it will interesting to see if the media is respectful of the players right to privacy and anominity. I suspect not.

O50, do the players have that right? I am not so sure.

I think a media outlet will get a rush of blood and let is slip, in the public interest.

Probably so they & their family don't get abused by mental Essendon fans that blindly back their club no matter what.

If they do ManDee they will be hauled before the court.

The courts take an extremely dim view of people breaking court suppression orders.

The Media do understand the significance of breaking these orders.

OD if the suppression order is granted it will be interesting to see if any media organisation appeals the decision.

OD the first reports I read stated that they had chosen not to name the players. AFL.com & The Age. They also did not mention a request for a suppression order. I now note that the Age mentions the request for a suppression order. But surely that is a request, is that legally binding?

From The Age

The player has requested his name be suppressed during the Supreme Court trial.

Fairfax Media understands that any proceedings would be about health and safety, not football. It is understood that the case is connected to the Essendon supplements regime but the player does not have an infraction notice.

My understanding is that you get to apply for the supression order not to be granted.

Once granted you then have to honor the order.

As an aside, Go_Blues is back posting on BF. He has been laying low since he posted what appeared to be a snippet of ASADA's evidence, supposedly passed onto him by one of the charged.

Go_Blues reckons that two coaches (one current, one former) will be issued with IN's. Goodwin's name was mentioned, but Go_Blues said that he wasn't one of the two he was thinking of.

First Ess supporter I mentioned it to: "probably that f wit Riemers"...

About 4 names suggested on BF. NLM, SL, KR and a current SANL playing-coach.

Thanks OD. I think you're right. Still the question stands. Will any media organisation apply to have suppression order not granted, and if so under what premise.

There is a certain fascination with blood sports. And Essendon's exsanguination is particularly appealing.

Oooooh I don't know what that is but I like the sound of it.....

I know the player in question is not supposed to be one of the 34, but maybe ASADA didn't go for him for some reason. Wouldn't it be interesting for a player in court to say to EFC you can't tell me what I was given, I demand compensation for your negligence causing me worry etc., and EFC might think the best course is to suddenly discover the records of what was administered.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
