Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Two things firstly the silence of the AFL is just dumbfounding and wherever the AWA got a sniff from it certainly got them finally up and about.

Someone is certainly shaking the tree....

The AFL are somewhat bound currently to keep mum until the tribunal hands down a decision. What they do then,,,will be telling.

I just spoke to an Essendon supporter that reckons the players have claimed they had no idea that the injections contained anything illegal therefore they cannot be banned.

..........................sigh!

So to carry that to the extreme, clubs can inject anything into their players and it is ok so long as the players don't know what it is.

But there were no positive tests he claimed. It will all be thrown out.

I am staggered at the lack of understanding of some Essendon supporters.

I'd imagine if this was happening to us, we'd have our fair share of supporters not wanting to face the facts as well. Coping mechanism and ignorance is bliss etc.

If it was us the coach would have been sacked, the board would have stepped down and we would be under administration of the AFL. And this all would have happened 2 years ago.

Did anyone see an article in The Age Sat feb7 which referred to Sebastian Coe and concerns about widespread doping in Russia.

It would seem a little hypocritical if Australian officials on one hand are complaining about doping in sport (walking) which "denied" an Australian "a gold medal" while other Australian officials cannot complete an investigation into "Pharmacological Experimentation"

Since when has hypocrisy been banned from World sport?

http://www.sen.com.au/news/a-short-sharp-ban-is-the-most-appealing-outcome

I disagree strongly, the situation is simple, if this club has cheated than it needs to man up and cop what's coming to it, they have fought the investigation ever step of the way, Robbo and his media team have carried out a media campaign trying to discredit and paint ASADA as the big bad wolf and Essendon as innocent victims.

The league needs to be very strong on the fact that Illegal or performance enhancing drug use is unacceptable under any circumstances and cannot go soft on anyone for it, much less this club who has appealed the legality of the investigation once, while it's coach has twice.

If they are found guilty is important that the punishment is not reflective of what is best for the EFC, or for the League in terms of getting them back on the field ASAP, it needs to send a message, and i suspect ASADA and WADA are hell bent on making sure that happens.

Lol, WADA would not allow a three game ban.

Hird must never be allowed near a sporting club, the players must miss six months min and the doc and administrators need to resign or be fired.

Then, then this can be buried.

I think that would be the minimum. And less and WADA will appeal.

Agree, i'm thinking lifetime bans from the AFL for Hird, Dank and whoever else was heavily involved if found guilty but i'd go as far as minimum 12 month bans for players backdated to the date of the infraction notices, if all that's been said in the media is true these players must have had suspicions something wasn't right long before the investigation even started.

How can you backdate when they are still training and continuing along with their normal,off-season activities? Saade got two years holiday from St. Kilda which also included training. I don' t see why Essendon players should be treated more leniently!

There was no backdating for Saad because he fronted up and copped his punishment immediately

ASADA have also said that any provisional suspension will be backdated to the last date of competitive play, training is fine under a provisional suspension. Maybe not fair, but i guess the trade off is that they've already had the heat of the spotlight on them for 2 years.

Really?

Where did they say that?

The only guarantee I've seen from ASADA is that there are no guarantees. Suspensions are usually backdated to the issuing of IN's, which is when provisional suspension usually starts.

Please note..ASADA dont backdate as such. The media has invented this notion of backdating and run with it.

what WADA/ASADA does do is take note of any provisional suspensions served and take that OFF the overall period of ban. its a similar effect but I repeat there is NO backdating

I'm getting lost BB. Are they currently provisionally suspended? Can they train when p. suspended?

well theres a 64 dollar question.. Yes they can. But strangely its only if they seek to compete does the clock reset

Whilst suspended they can not train , play or scratch themselves in the name of the game. til then its a bit murky.

Watson and Fletcher will have their game as IR reps noted. Will work against them...good !! everyone else is playing around in the cracks atm.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
