2015 MFC Training Camp Maroochydore

Howe did he do that

I am glad that they seem to be drumming in a game plan designed to get the ball down the field as quickly as possible (at least that is what I gleaned at the session I went to), in 2014 it seemed we were playing a style to not get thrashed; retain the ball at all costs, minimise risks, rarely trust forwards with one-on-ones, etc.

When I went to training mid way through 2014 they were doing ball movement simulation from back to forward and there was a clear emphasis on slowing it down, chipping it side ways and keeping possession. Basically any effort to move it forward where there was any risk was discouraged.

I hope your just taking the micky... I hear this joke daily and its just poor form

I'm sorry, Grint, but I'm not sure I understand you. Are you saying you too have your name tattoo-ed on your back and its insulting for people to query why?

And getting back to my original question, does it actually say "Jones" and if so, why? While I'm not a fan of tattoos at any time, I'm particularly curious as to why someone might put their own name on their body. I just don't understand why.

The obvious answer would be taking pride in their family and their heritage. I don't understand why people make a big deal of it tbh. Assuming it's an egotistical thing is a bit silly.

Not having a potshot LDC, hard to show inflection through text. I do have my last name tattoo-ed on me, but "so I dont forget" is a tad silly. Like myself I'm sure Jonesy is extremely proud of his family and have "body art" that means something. Either that or he lost a bet hahah!

Thanks Grint. Nice and civilised in your reply and I was a tad silly so I apologise for offending.

Being proud of your family heritage is a wonderful thing. I guess not recognising the family via the body is just like not seeing the need for a family coat of arms.

Family oriented tattoo, Jones, Kent, Howe, Harmes, Garlett, Grint and me, not a bad group, but sadly like Nut (If it's true) also, a singing skull, a drunken night after an ACDC concert in Brisbane

Nice to see the coverage from the camp, both officially (no complaints about the Club website) and from RB, really good succinct reports

The slowing down is part of the first option they have been doing back in Melbourne, either take it or reset, problem in the past was we rushed the second and third opiton

Hard to read, but does that tattoo on Jones' back say "Jones"? If so, why? In case he forgets who he is?

That's because when he is running the guys behind know who he is........... Seriously!

When the second most likely option is that you may have lost a bet you probably shouldn't be surprised that people think you're a moron.

At least Jones shows some loyalty to his footy club as well as his family. I believe the last two who branded themselves with their surnames are now down in Geelong.

maybe he has it tattooed there as an incentive to all of those behind him in the time trials and runs to keep up with the Jones. His pride in his family is very evident in that his most prominent tattoo on his right arm, is of his grandfather. I think loyalty is something that Nathan has in spades... both to his own family and to his football family (the MFC).

Thats putting words in my mouth, I never said it was 2nd most likely, just another option. And to go as far as calling anyone a moron for having a drunk tattoo you'd be insulting many with no justification.

Now I am not suggesting that our friend BBO is a moron but his avatar is listed as one.

July 31st, my birthday, and don't I regret asking the wife to take me to Kardinia Park for my birthday in 2011.

Two things surprise me about your honesty Wrecker

- That you admit to being there that day

- that you are still a supporter, that may have been the end for me if I had to sit through it.

did you stay till the end?

I'm happy to add the sober, mentally impaired and drug affected as well.

My apologies sir, just didn't sound like you, thought you were having a lend, lots of us my vintage and background, have the same thing, before it was a fashion statement, a drunken tattoo was a right of passage for the military, I was horrified the next morning, coz I didn't remember meeting the young lady, which I thought the tattoo would signify, instead "bad boy boogie' which was a great early Acka Dacka song.

Impressed with the fact it was Snoopy, although I must say Daffy Duck is my favorite

We had one gentleman who woke screaming because he thought his face was decaying, coz as he touched it, bits came away, turned out he had used one of the pizzas we picked up on way home as a pillow, those were the days

I googled 'moron' and this is what I got (as well as BB0's avatar):

moron.gif

Do you think they are referring to us!

Will probably incur the wrath of 'keep to the thread title' posters but it is pretty quiet atmo so figure a bit of frivolity won't go astray!

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
