Yea st kilda were ahead of us in the pre-season and now we are 2k members ahead of them. Also still ahead of the Doggies too :)! But Richmond and co are still way ahead of us (Richmond 68k - i thought it was about 3-1 richmond supporters there last week, no wonder)!!

Consecutive Victories will bring many out of the shadows.

Lots of Demons supporters in the Members and Ponsford but a few thousand Toiges fans, too. It was a 3-1 ratio, at least.

34,068.

34,041 30 April 2014.

So looking like around the same result as last year. Although a very tough draw until July. Maybe a win against the Dogs & Saint. Its Freo, Sydney, Hawks, Doggies, Port in Alice, Pies, Saints (Etihad), Cats at Skilled, Bye. Membership tally for the year finishes after this run. Mind you we could well be 4-8 by then same as last year.

Wouldn't be surprised if the hype around Jessie brings in a few thousand more especially if we have a good game this week!

Even if people don't join up I suspect home crowds will be up just to see him play and launch himself at the ball!

I wonder if it bumped up on Sunday. Our first home game since round 1.

TBH I can't see us bettering last year's total, which would be pretty terrible.

I predict 34,900.

We will get past 35k. Doesn't close till around QB IIRC.

So now there is a $50 bait to get the unsigned members to put their hands in their pockets. I applaud the initiative but I wonder what it says to those of us who always sign up, pay full price for no special reward.

Don't forget those who aren't yet members have missed two home games and five matches in all out of a total of 22 (or 26 if you want to be supremely optimistic and possibly considered to be certifiable.)

well they now have 3 less home (incl nominal home) games to go to, so it balances out

  • 2 weeks later...

The bar was full of members after half time on Saturday

Not many were complimentary about the performance. If we increase our membership from here it will be a miracle

Finally renewed - kind of sad, going through a divorce, didn't know what to put down for an address. If there is a more complicated family membership in the Melbourne football club I'd be surprised...

What a great day for this to happen!

Carlton in a mess, Malthouse gone and we break 35000 members off the back of a ripping win!

GO DEES!

Get stuffed ya pack of lygon st bums!!

So you don't like them Coup?

35000 is still not enough.

Our membership record is above 37,000 achieved back in 2011. If this club is to survive, we need to grow our membership base, something we haven't been successful at in the last 4 years now.

Wins in the next two will see a lot of dees fans come out of the woodwork

Considering the results and Admin problems DD are you surprised?

Win 8 games this year, recruit well again, win the first two games of 2016 and it will 40 000 before you can saw Carn The Dees

suggest you don't walk down lygon street Coup, the Carlton Mob might be waiting for you. unless you are a woman. although they may still be waiting for you.

We will crack 40,000 when we win a couple of our practise matches and stop getting a flogging in the first 7 or 8 games. The capitulation against GWS & the beltings from Freo & Hawthorn killed off the membership momentum. Supporters have been given too many false dawns.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
