P-man 13,367 Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Freedom or a lifting of responsibility would be my first thoughts. I could accept that, but I don't think it fully accounts for someone who had mentally left the building from the outset. Anyhow, he's gone now and we got Pick 3, so c'est la vie. Fight fight fight..!! Nah no fight. I enjoy WYL's posts, even if I frequently disagree with him.

You both make some good points. Frawley made his decision last year and his body language showed this, my opinion only.

We sit in different seats watching the same game
La Dee-vina Comedia 17,136 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 once the head drops P Man respect for your club is severed...yes it can be salvaged but it is never the same. My gut feel is that Chip was out before round 1 but had to keep it quiet. The interview with Matt Burgan was excriutiating, suprised the MFC let that get ou to the supporters So no i don't think the mindset lasted even 2 weeks Every interview with Frawley since his debut has been excruciating. He clearly is not comfortable in front of a camera.
ruddo 3 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Every now and then he had a good game. Had a great distance on his kicks but they never hit the target. good luck tapscott.
Demoneyes 562 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 An alternate reality perhaps. I think you may find that the club turned off him first...just saying!
Grimes Times 1,278 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Tappy signed to play this year at Sorrento. Thought he would have played in the SANFL / VFL to see if he could string a injury free season together and give himself another chance to be picked up again????
Straight Sets Simon 23,113 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Tappy signed to play this year at Sorrento. Thought he would have played in the SANFL / VFL to see if he could string a injury free season together and give himself another chance to be picked up again???? He'll probably make more money at Sorrento.
TeamPlayedFine39 8,525 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I assumed he'd be snapped up by a SANFL of VFL team. It must have been a terribly frustrating time for him - his body not allowing him to play as he'd like to. Might need a year of low-key footy to get back the love for the game that may be, quite understandably, wavering...
DeeSpencer 26,668 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Tappy signed to play this year at Sorrento. Thought he would have played in the SANFL / VFL to see if he could string a injury free season together and give himself another chance to be picked up again???? I think Sorrento are pretty well connected with supporters, so might possibly have put together a decent life after footy package of employment/trade skills and cash which trumps what the VFL could offer. He finished the season in reasonable health, trained on with us and still got injured. So it wouldn't surprise me if he just doesn't have the confidence in his body ever getting back to AFL standard. Tough, strong, hard, kicks it a mile and can use his body to take a mark, he should be a pretty good local footballer!
Fork 'em 7,052 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Nevermind Frawley being gone rd 2 last year.A few years ago I was behind the goals at Etihad against the Roos when Juice Newton thought he was Nick Riewold for the 1st qr.I looked into Frawleys eyes when the game had turned for the worst as he retrieved a ball from the bag to kick out after a behind. He was gone then.
rpfc 29,020 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 He'll probably make more money at Sorrento. And have a better lifestyle. There is a place down there that does excellent buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup, whipped butter and sausage.
John Crow Batty 8,892 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 He should try out pro wrestling. He could be the new "Mr Natural". Won't need much oiling up.
Red and Bluebeard 2,101 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 And have a better lifestyle. There is a place down there that does excellent buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup, whipped butter and stausage. Just don't tell Redleg :-)

Unfortunately Dean Kent excelled in the role Tappy was meant to play, in every aspect.

Have had numerous ex league players there the last few years - mainly saints due to their ex st Kilda coach
Grimes is Great 183 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Lenny Hayes has signed at Sorrento for 2015 also
Fork 'em 7,052 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I thought he was going to be our Chapman and Trengove our Bartell. I was pretty excited about him too. poita 3,944 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Tappy signed to play this year at Sorrento. That would seem to be about the right level for Tapscott. I don't recall him ever dominating in the VFL.
whatwhat say what 23,841 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 It sums it up when rather than try to make it back to top level football by going to the vfl or back home to the SANFL he's taken the easy life of playing amateurs for the coin on offer. It would seem to me that he probably never had the wherewithal to make it at afl level in the first place. I was in the room when Vlad read out "pick 18, Melbourne, player 123456, Luke..." And I got all excited thinking you little ripper, we've called collingwood's bluff, and we are picking a top class talent who is ready to go and that we have the coin to pay. And then it was Tapscott not Ball. Shame.
hemingway 7,633 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Hard to judge Tappy. His AFL career was always afflicted by injury. Hardly a period when he was ïnjury free. Good luck to him if he wants to play for Sorrento, who are we to judge.
deeko 952 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 That would seem to be about the right level for Tapscott. I don't recall him ever dominating in the VFL. I was a massive fan of the kid early but he really didn't show much/anything at the highest level other than a glimpse here or there. I was at the game he kicked 6 in the twos a couple seasons back and he killed it that day. A couple of games last year he played really well in the hard contested stuff for the Scorps but never took many games apart. The only win out of this I thought was the fact we no longer seem to be keeping players on the list based on potential anymore. If they aren't getting on the park or not showing enough on it looks like its all over.

And then it was Tapscott not Ball. Shame. It's a pity Luke didn't make it but injury was a real problem for him and maybe it's also the reason he's stepped down to a lower level. It's a fair chance his body just can't stand up to the requirements at the top level and he knows this. Nothing to do with the easy way out or wherewithal. I hope he gets back to playing and enjoying his footy. Not everyone makes it at the top level but he's played more games than most.
