Correct me if I am wrong, but pretty confident Tappy has never got through a full pre-season.

I would love to see us rookie him, if by some fluke he can get over his rough run of injuries he would be a better prospect than most if not all available when selecting rookies. I understand the knocks on him but have seen him play very well at Casey and believe that with a full year injury free he has the ability to have an influence on AFL games.

And it's unnecessary. Trengove goes onto the LTI and a rookie can be promoted in his place. Same result at a cheaper cost and with a commitment to a player (the new rookie) for one year rather than the two required for any new player drafted. More importantly, I have no desire to see our club terminate contracts and "pay them out". Every time a club chooses to do that it reduces its prospects of getting a quality player by free agency. Who'd want to come to a club that doesn't honour contracts?

never stopped us getting a quality coach

The guy is a bust RGRS

All over lets look for someone who can cut the mustard at AFL level

LT clearly could not.

And neither can Skills Mc Kenzie and Evans

PAY THEM OUT and find a couple of late picks that might make a difference!

That is easy to say if you are a Collingwood or Hawthorn but a different matter if you are cash strapped like the MFC.

They will be around in 2015.

Who have the Pies and Hawks paid out early?

How? All clubs have the same salary cap. It doesn't matter what club you are.

Always wondered what position Tappy could have made his own, reckon it had to be a Back Pocket, small with a big turning circle, congratulations on playing 48 games for the Dees though, a very similar player to Kyle Cheney who keeps on kicking on, so there is some hope.

Rookie-listing Tappy seems a strong possibility. His delisting has been handled differently from Blease and Strauss.

this is true.

Tapscott getting dropped the day before the next delisted FA period begins leads me to believe the club has somebody lined up for that spot on the senior list.

More likely they realised that it is pretty stupid not to use pick 40 when you have it.

" nothing personal against Luke" rates up there with "don't take this the wrong but...." and " I don't want be rude however"...

no offense..

Had many similar responses when I supported us putting Nev on the rookie list.

Not AFL standard blah blah blah. If Roos is going to Rookie list Luke, it's for a reason. I hope he does

The below represents poor drafting, development & culture.... Whilst now it's in the past... The club should never allow this debacle to ever happen again.... Free agency aside on some of the players departure it reflects the club inability to attract & keep players!

Scully (pick 1), Morton (4), Gysberts (11), Frawley (12), Cook (12), Blease (17), Tapscott (18), Strauss (19), Maric (21) McLean (5) Sylvia(3) Trengove may never play again, Moloney & Rivers... All gone....

Tappy as with Blease always seemed a likely type however despite many opportunities both failed to deliver.

Injuries played a part in both cases.

I just cannot for the life of me understand how DL is still talking about JT being rookie listed. The forum now talks about it as if its fact. Its bloody fanciful, never going to happen. MFC would be crucified, wake up!!!!

Well DL is the be all and end all! I love JT and LT but TMI for me. I dont GAF about all the abbreviations on here and would love to FO before I get to PAAC!

Worse was that none of them...Well maybe Rivers aside...were actually anything but very average AFL players.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
