My Bulldog-supporting mates tell me that McCartney did amazing things with their young kids and that the junior brigade at the club loved him. iven how well their young midfield is working these days I think he's an amazing pick up for us and with a bit of luck in a few years we'll see the results in our own young mids.

I am assuming him starting in Feb is partly due to the fact that the guy would need a break to deal with the fact that he was fired and now works somewhere else.

That, and he gotta spend his firing monies!!

The delay might also be a condition of his payout. It would be most surprising if the Bulldogs were to let him go and join another club before all the drafting and trading period is done. I realise that February is quite some time after, but if I were the Bulldogs, I'd like to keep him out of the system for a while.

Neeld was sacked in June 2014 (this isn't a post to bash Neeld). You'd be right to describe the dees as a basket case.

By October 2015, Melbourne would have to rank in the top half of the league in regards to stability.

It's quite some achievement by PJ, first on board, and Roosy.

There's a real plan and the adults are in charge.

Other than your years being a bit out, it is a good time for the club. Hopefully this stability and adults in charge equates to team success!

Kurt was spot on.

Good i was hoping he was on the money.

Well done mate

Making GNF look like a rank amateur. Well done Kurt, but if you do get some inside info in future just make sure releasing the info doesn't hurt the club.

Very good appointment. As Colin said, we've got experience and proven people now coaching our team, a far cry from the Mark Neeld days. Good luck Brendan and I'll now go away and try and learn to spell your name correctly..............

Was Carl Ditterich getting around at that time as coach?

No just after that, Ditterich was still involved.

Had a few mates at the club including the coach.

Sean Charles was there though...interesting fellow.

What a sad individual.

You still have said how many games you have watched McCartin play.

You can have a go at McCartin but I can't have a go at McCartney pot\kettle I say.

maybe so...but laughing when someone fails at our club...you gotta wonder why support the club in the first place...

I'll be laughing at the haters that doubt me not the club.

almost 10 30 and no announcement

We have been lied to

Worth an apology, HH?

Pretty amazing when you consider it wasn't that much longer than a year ago we as a club were so far in the poo it wasn't funny.

We've now assembled Roos as head Coach, mentor to his successor , and acknowledged hanger-er-on-erer sts after. . We have the probable successor, Goodwin, a respected coach in his own right and also , not unknown to him , an able assistant and widely regarded guru of development in Macca.

We're often told you need your off-field right before anything of substance happens on field. Well i think we are well on our way. Christ i wish we could nail Jacko to his seat..alas ...

We've been castigated ( and more than likely rightly so ) for our ineptitude in picking the right ones and then being able to develop them after.

I don't recall a time when I've felt so confident we will start getting it all right.

I've been like many others in the past and wrung hands when considering who we'l get at the draft and trade. I'm not concerned at all presently. I think who ever we get will add to the equation. Not all ever work out as hoped bu the failures will be the lesser number in future I suspect , not the successes as in the past.

Welcome aboard Macca ....weave that magic of yours !!! :)

Well, at least we'll know that if they don't turn into good players, it was Taylor's fault. :P

Dont forget Glen.

No, let's forget Glen. Or at least, gag him - they may already have done this. Anyway, I don't want to hear any more interviews, Glen. Just keep the board stable.

Good effort. Continue grinding your axe against a poster who seems to have got under your skin and patronise another. A rare skill

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
