I came across this story on the AFL website. Wow what a team we could have had.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-10-24/they-could-have-been-demons

I didnt realise that tapscott got picked before fyfe and I dont even what to look at morton going before dangerfield.

But some picks were ok. McDonald at 53 and howe at 33 and col at 46.

I find this thread pretty pointless.

Same rubbish article the AFL does every year on us before the draft.

Go watch Nathan Fyfe under 18 champs video and see what an absolute dud he looked.

What a load of utter rubbish that article was. Forget our club, what about every other club that missed out on those players? Haven't people realised yet that the draft is largely a lottery. We're trying to put 80 x 17/18 year old's in a "proper" order when it's virtually impossible to do so. I'm forever amazed that otherwise intelligent people fall for this sort of stuff.

Drafting 17/18 year old's is a glorified lucky dip and that's all it will ever likely be (unless some dramatic changes are made like lifting the draft age to around about 22 - by the way, that won't be happening in a hurry so we're stuck with what we've got)

Re this upcoming draft ... out of Wright, Petracca, Brayshaw, Lever, Leverde and McCartin there is a high likelihood that 2 or 3 of those 6 players that won't make it past B grade level. 1 or 2 of them could be complete busts. Maybe 1 or 2 of them might be stars. At the moment, none of us know for sure how any of them will turn out. What is almost certainly true is those 6 players will not be the best 6 players that come out of the draft.

If people believe that the draft is largely flawed then in all honesty those people forfeit the right to make criticisms of those making the selections. And if people believe that the draft isn't flawed then .....

This garbage article is recycled every year!

The first problem is that it's revisionism at its worse as every year the article is written, the team is different as the journalist (in name only) has had another year consider the draft. (cue 'Michael Hurley is the next Wayne Carey' circa 2010)

The second problem is that this can be done for every team in the league. Imagine Hawthorn with Selwood, Fyfe and Pendlebury!

This most remarkable thing about this thread is that the contents of that article could be a revelation to someone.

It's definitely another club's turn to be the media's punching bag. We've done our shift. In face we've done a triple shift.

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
