I reckon there is something seductive for clubs when it comes to big kpfs in the draft. This despite reiwold being the only true kpf taken at one who is a bona fide star. Also despite the fact that in modern footy you really need 2-3 true a grade muds (and 5-6 b graders) to be competive. And despite what some people say gun mids are not dine a dozen. Would be very happy with petracca and brayshaw - should i be changing my avatar again?

I think there are two major points here.

1: mccartin would have the chance to develop with roo there

2: there aren't a lot of key forwards in the next couple of drafts by the looks of things

If what Sir Paul is saying has substance, Im thinking that Petracca and Brayshaw would have been our 1 / 2 picks. Thats gotta be a good result . If it goes that way we'll have Hogan and Petracca and Brayshaw all debuting next year and all of whome could easily have been number 1 draft picks.

Great news that we're passing up Lever!

Means we're more than likely going Brayshaw and McCartin.

We should discuss this post in 5 years time...

Great news?

We will discuss this then I promise - it will be better than Interstellar...

5th dimension? You skipped right over the 4th!?!

I'm calling it early. This will be a dud draft like 2003. Very few of the top 10 impress me. Brayshaw should prove to be a good player but not great. Petracca and Mccartin I am not convinced about at all.

You are walking out of the cinema during the trailers, nah you haven't seen a trailer yet - you walking out during a Pancake Parlour ad...

That's pretty big news.

I did a little review of how I ranked players from this pool, tallying up how I scored their playing attributes based on what I had seen. There isn't too much in it, but I ended up with Petracca top of the class, closely followed by Brayshaw. McCartin I had a few points behind as fourth best of the available players. It confirmed in my mind that after the first three players, there isn't much separating the next 30 or so players.

To score Petracca and Brayshaw would be an excellent result for our list.

It's certainly sound reasoning, especially since we kept hearing that the gap between Petracca and McCartin was never seen to be very wide.

I hope this plays out (though comfortable with either outcome).

It's a good thing we aren't desperate for a key forward...

He didn't even make it into the cinemas RPFC, he baulked it at the candy bar.

Probably missed the feature sucking face in the back row!

Have you actually seen any of them play?

I wouldn't make a call until I have watched them live as I don't think highlights or regurgitating others views is legit.

I haven't seen mccartin live so no comment. I have seen both Petracca and brayshaw play (against each other in the final round of the tac cup actually). Both will succeed at afl level I have absolutely no doubt. Too early to tell how good they will be but it is clear that both have the physical attributes to succeed at the next level.

So why are you so unconvinced? Curious as to what you base your call on....

And player development is the key. Roos team of coaches won't stuff it up!

To what end Red?

Anyone think Lever at 3 is a chance ...??

I still think Lever was being looked at should we have had a pick around 8-10 as a result of a trade ( Tysonesque ) . I dont think hes been considered as a #3 though

The intention of the trengove trade was to give us the pick to land lever

I feel truly humbled to have been annointed your favourite poster and I don't take it lightly. I am thinking of having your post framed next to a picture of me.

As to what end on the misinformation, I have done my investigations on the number 1 pick scenarios and it just seems to me that first, the Saints would not have passed up picks 4 and 7 for 1, unless they wanted Petracca and second, that the AFL is a little peeved that we all think we know who the Saints will take and they are trying to spice up the event with some mystery and confusion.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
