Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFL National Draft 2014 Picks 2 & 3

I don't think there is any way we will pass on 40, as to 53 I am not certain. I hope we are able to use both.

Yep, there's some reasonable talent that can be picked up later in the draft.

This is where I believe a good recruiter can earn his money (the top end of the draft is much more transparent although as most would now acknowledge, there are no guarantees at the top end of the draft)

Kent 48, Garland 46, McDonald 53, Bail 64, Matt Jones 52 & Terlich 68 are all reasonable to solid contributors with 2 or 3 of those 6 players having a fair bit of upside.

Josh Mahoney last week on SA radio said we will have two live picks in the draft.

That's not too good. It means the two picks we got out of the Frost trade won't be used. I was excited about those picks. We found JKH and Kent in the 40s. Matt Jones too has been servicable, and was found in the 50s.

Poor list management.

Consider our list (with known recruits):

-Only 7 players have played more than 100 games. 7 !!!!!

-There are 7 players under 20 years of age, 5 aged 21, 10 aged 22 to 25.

This age/experience profile is totally out of sinc with other AFL lists. So why worry about using pick 40 and 53 in a 'lottery' for more 18 year olds. It also may explains why Roos offered supposed 'duds' contracts...we need some experience!!!

If a good prospect with experience comes up, who MFC consider offers more than a contracted player I am sure they will have the fortitude to delist that player. Otherwise draft pick 2 and 3 it is!!

BTW we will still have 2 rookie spots for other experienced players who may not find a home during the main draft. Doubt we would rookie any 18 year olds though.

Roos knows what he is doing. I'm not sure the guy who signed up Evans and McKenzie for 3 years each did. I have little doubt if either were OOC they'd be out the door.

So if we don't use 40 and 53 then the Frost trade was [censored] and we panicked and wasted time and bargaining power by waiting until the last minute then throwing pick 23 just to get it done. We're paying a new head recruiter to recruit players who at 2&3 can basically be picked by any buffoon who can log into Superfooty, and we're not getting full value from a new development team by bringing in as many fresh faces as we could/should.

We really are just walking on the spot as a club aren't we? So much for being ruthless this trade period.

So essentially we traded Frost for Pick 23...

Pretty much...

Our poor list managing continues. People are saying Paul Roos knows what he is doing but.... does he?

We finished second last on the ladder and we have 2 live picks... its all good and welk to bring in experience guys but we also need to continue to bring in youth to balance it out. Our list is older then Collingwood Port Adelaide Brisbane GWS and Gold coast.. yet we are not even close to getting out of the bottom 4..

Gee Sweet Dee......Do you want pick 40(Joe Bloggs) and pick 53(Fred Nerk) or do you want someone with AFL experience that has maybe been through a pre season or two and knows what is required but hasn't been able to get a game at a higher rated club???

People get so carried away with draft picks......Roos has consistently picked players that have experience and are older than 18 years old....

We will pick two youngsters at 2 and 3 I feel the rest will be a bit more matured.

No we'll just hold on to players that give us as much as Evans has and we'll just hope that the list gets better..

I'd rather roll the dice and hope we end up with another Tommy Mac, or JKH etc..

If we only take 2 and 3 you could argue that.

I suppose Taylor would have had some involvement in every other player coming onto the list though.

At pick 40 you could nab your self a Luke Parker and even another Dean Kent.

You still need to bring in youth for depth aswell. Cant just afford to rely on fringe players to help this club. Michie and Riley weren't exactly permanent 22 players this year.

Might as well shut down the Oscar McDonald, the Gore, the Goodyear etc threads.. The club is sticking with Evans, Terlich and McKenzie as they have been in the system and have pre seasons and all that shiit, and pick 40 and 53, although traded for, will bear no fruit..

I still think we will have 40 to use. Maybe 53 as well.

Well if he ends up being a very good player, for starters.

Well he would want to end up a seriously good player.

Paid overs for a guy off the rookie list when we potentially had a Corey Ellis or Tom Lamb.

What does it matter where he was selected?

He was a targeted player, the club got him, the sacrifice can't be judged yet.

I agree that not using ND40 diminishes the worth of that trade, but we won't know the value for a few years.

Personally, I would delist a rookie a player to use ND40 but I can understand the desire not to do that.

Not getting ND40 is not the thing that make or break our future, what we do with ND2 and ND3 however...

Brisbane gave up pick 21 for Allen Christensen. A talented 23 years old already a premiership player with a lot of class and skill with 65 games experience.

We gave pick 23 for Sam Frost and pick 40 and 53 which looks likely that we will not even use..

In my opinion it was just a poor trade.

Who potentially could be our next Gysberts or Cook.

I think we are going a little over the top on an off the cuff remark made on SA radio aren't we?

Lets just take a deep breath and wait to see what we actually do come draft day rather than go through every possible poor result that might happen.

Frost for 23 is probably overs but not ridiculously so, especially as he will fill a specific role which we need.

I still think so too ... I'd be thinking along the lines as noted that JT ought to be for the other LTI Holiday aka Camp -Rookie !!

I honestly don't see how anyone loses by that happening. He's not playing in 15 (at the very least) and by his own admission.

...and Geelong gave up pick 21 for a bloke who can't play footy.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
