Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The fact that you guys all fell into the OBVIOUS trap is the thing I find funny

Oh yeah, the old "oh [censored], what did I say that for? I'll tell 'em I was trolling" trick.

I believe you. You seem like an honest type...

Despite the late mail I still think Petracca will go 1.

Yeah, too much media attention on the eve of the draft to spice up an otherwise boring meal.

I'm not buying it.

But I'm hoping like hell.

Saints supporters reckon Petracca will leave for Collingwood in 2 years. I tend to agree, he doesn't seem the loyal type.

Eyes to close together?

The fact is, he went to the Eagles as a mature player and person and he still failed, I think that lends itself to the verdict that we drafted poorly with that selection.

I don't think it has any bearing - you could argue that having your first 5 years at a rubbish club does irreparable damage. Having said that, Morton looked a goer in his first couple of years and then stopped on a dime. This seems to be a bit of a pattern with us, we can't seem to get players to take that next step. Both Morton and Watts had/have all the tools/advantages required to be top-line players, there is no excuse or explanation, other than perhaps our rubbish culture and program, underfunded footy dept., poor facilities, bargain basement coaching etc etc I know some of these aspects have been improved (at least partially) but they were all present in Morton's first 5 years

There is a recursive error in the logic of this analysis.

Top picks go to the worst clubs after their worst seasons.

So a top pick starting their career often has to deal with

  • substandard club environment/culture/facilities (relative to top clubs),
  • instability in terms of coach (bottom club often sack their coach or just have),
  • a dearth of senior leadership on the field to model on or be protected by.
  • intense and unrealistic pressure to perform early and lift his club out of the doldrums.

All of these factors come (in general) with being a top pick, and it's these factors that retard their development.

and each of those 4 dot-points apply 100% to the MFC in the 2008-2013 period. Textbook definition of a horrible breeding ground for footballers. You'd cry if we drafted you wouldn't ya?

it's also affected by who drafts them

still have to wonder where Morton would be if the Eagles had got him 5 years earlier

I dont subscribe to the theory that Morton would be a gun player if he had been at the Eagles. Its a moot point as we will never know. BUt for me its more about personal commitment to improve, dedication etc Morton didn't have it.

Now of course if you are talking chemical enhancements......:)

Eyes to close together?

Are you positing that his eyes close at the same time?

Or

To, Too, Two

What’s the difference between to, too, and two? It’s not too difficult to use them, once you take the time to learn what they mean – and do some practicing, too.

To

To has two functions. First, as a preposition, in which case it always precedes a noun.

Secondly, to indicates an infinitive when it precedes a verb.

I’m going to the store

He went to Italy

This belongs to David

I need to study

We want to help

He’s going to eat

Too

Too also has two uses. First, as a synonym for "also":

Secondly, too means excessively when it precedes an adjective or adverb.

Can I go too?

He went to France too

I think that’s Paul’s book too

I’m too tired

He’s walking too quickly

I ate too much

Two

Two is a number.

One, two, three…

I have two cars

She ate two pieces of pie

Edit:- I had to fix the errors in the eLearn English paste !!!

Back to the draft then.

The article does not confirm anything.

"ST KILDA is expected to land blue-chip key forward Paddy McCartin ....... it is understood the 194cm goalkicker has got the nod over explosive midfielder Christian Petracca....... It is understood the gun Geelong Falcon will be unveiled as the No.1 choice..."

Expected and understood are not confirmations.

Good news if true in IMHO.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
