I'd be happy to Get McCartin for 2 reasons. Firstly he looks like a beast of a player, and secondly, it gives me faith that we've got a good FA midfielder locked in for next year.

I don't mind the sentiment but i'm cautioned towards the idea o anyone locked in. we might have a few lined up and them voicing at least the idea is plausible but as nothing can be signed id remain wary until it was. Appreciate where you're going though as its been certainly suggested we're targeting a couple of likely lads !!

I think we must get McCartin if Petracca goes at number 1. I feel he would provide greater depth for our team in allowing us to send Hogan down back if we need the cover. Not only that, but lets be real here. Dawes and Hogan right now can't stay injury free to save themselves. It's just as beneficial landing a ready to go midfielder through free agency as it is getting a ready to go forward.

You talking about Sam Blease?

Blease did look good when he played in the championships but Zaharakis looked better we should of taken him.

Laverde can take a grab so he has a few more tricks than Blease.

Josh Mahoney told @TheRunHome the Dees have narrowed down their potential draft list to four - Petracca, McCartin, Brayshaw and Wright.

Can anyone get a transcript?

Hmmm...that isn't what I heard. I thought he said we've narrowed it down to 3 or 4. Just said StK will do what is best for them and we will end up with 2 mids or a mid and and a tall but wouldn't be drawn on names...

Well I don't mind that at all.

Atleast there will be no out their Jordy Gysberts Lucas Cooks selections.

He definitely said Petrecca, Wright, McCartin and Brayshaw were the four.

i must have dozed off! But I don't think he would show our hand so obviously. Reckon he was going with the flow and I wouldn't be surprised if they pull a surprise pick at 3.

DS: Picks 2 and 3 Josh, how many players are you seriously looking at for those positions?

JM: Down to 3 or 4 by now

MA: Brayshaw goes alright Josh

JM: He'd be one of the 3 or 4

Didn't say much on Petracca. Speculates about talls and inside midfielder, or two mids, or two talls.

MA: Paddy McCartin he'd look pretty good
JM: You're trying to get all 4 out of me. McCartin, Petracca, Brayshaw and Wright are around the mark.

I'd say at this stage they know Petracca is going at pick 1. They know they are going for Brayshaw. It will come down to McCartin, Wright and maybe Lever as a smokey that they are keeping under wraps. Really I don't think we learnt anything knew.

Finally some good news after the McCartney debacle.

We won't be taking Lever THANK GOD.

It's interesting that Wright is in that list. He maybe the surprise. Brayshaw,Wright?

There was talk earlier in the year that Wright was our number 1 choice. He's bigger and a better kick than McCartin. He's more versatile. And he'd compliment Dawes and Hogan compared to McCartin who would force Dawes to ruck if that was our 3 prong forward line. I don't think he'd be a surprise at all.

Why would taking McCartin force Dawes to ruck? Would mean Dawes could assume the role he's much more suited to - 3rd tall/flanker.

Dawes isn't good enough 1 on 1 to be one of our long term key forwards but can certainly do a job as 3rd tall.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
