Given that;

1. Your mum doesn't have inside gossip after meeting someone who looks like a players brother when on a Bruny Island (sorry for the Tassie reference) seal watching tour.

2. You can't stand riddles.

3. You don't know who to trust.

4. This trade season for all its craziness is getting you down.

Who do we draft?

Obviously Brayshaw is a lock for 2. But hearing rumours Jake Lever could be right up our calculation.

Given that the Dogs and GWS will probably be arguing up to the deadline ,and each trade they're trying to do affects trading with Stkilda, theres got to be a chance that the saints are forced to keep pick 1 and go w McCartin. Which could mean that Petrecca is available as well. For all the Kennedy talk I think Id be more excited about that duo coming to the club along with pick 23.

Brayshaw and either Petracca, Wright or McCartin! (Assuming we go into it with picks 2 & 3)

so everyone still assuming Petracca will go at pick 1?

Lot of talk on trade radio yesterday that the Saints are trading Rhys Stanley, which leaves them very thin for tall forwards both now and for the future

McCartin to the Saints at pick 1 surely

Yeah was thinking this as well, Stanley to the Cats for 21 means there's a huge chance they take a KPP at 1.

However it also means there's a huge chance they trade 1 to GWS for 4 & 7, GWS take Petracca at 1 and Saints take Wright or McCartin at 4.

Brayshaw and Petracca, if Petracca is gone take McCartin.

I'm with you big Gonzo. As for having Joey moving back to Melbourne. No chane but would be wise for Sydney to top up while they can with all their over 30's and inability to trade over the next 2 years.

and yes they may trade to GWS, but even then if they lose Boyd to the Bulldogs, Pattons done his knee again

they may take McCartin too

There is a lot of sense in this however if we have first choice of the talls (after grabbing Brayshaw with 2) then I would be more tempted by Wright ahead of McCartin. McCartin reminds me a bit of Hogan where as Wright reminds me more of Mitch. In essence, by drafting Wright, we might have a similar forward structure to what we envisaged having this year, with the additions of Brayshaw, Stretch etc as additions to our midfield depth!

Wright would be good as he could serve two purposes (ruck/forward) and allow us to ditch Fitzpatrick & Spencer keeping Gawn to switch forward with Wright.

I haven't seen much of McCartin but from what I've read he's more a lead up marking forward playing out of the goal square whereas Hogan is more of a roaming CHF type so they should complement each other well.

Still can't see us taking the top picks to the draft.

I can.

If the deal isn't there, it isn't there.

We have to get everything right for 5 years. Last year, we did that. This year is teetering on a knife edge, one thing that can not happen id either overpaying for one star or buying high on whoever is available just because we can get them.

If Petracca, McCartin, and/or Brayshaw are our lot then they are our lot.

I dont see Boyd going anywhere (not this year at least) and besides they still have Cameron, Tomlinson and McCarthy (and maybe one or two others besides). If GWS somehow land pick 1 they'll take Petracca guaranteed.

The Saints trading out Stanley, and not bringing in another legit tall, can only bode well for us in the hope we take both Petracca and Brayshaw.

Gentlemen (and Ladies),

Let us have supreme faith in the ability of Roos, Goodwin and Stone ( assisted by Misson ) getting whoever we pick cherry ripe for the start of the 2015 season. Given the physical development of the touted top four, I see no reason why any of them are not hot to trot for Round one and able to make a similar impact that Wines had for PA this year!

Plus we have (virtually) new recruits in Salem, Hogan, Stretch, JKH and Toumpas added to the mix.

A good way to do this would be just like how the clubs do it. Having a list of players in the order you would take them and cross them off as a team above selects them.

For me, it would be

1. Christian Petracca

2. Angus Brayshaw

3. Jake Lever

I would only trade Pick 2 or 3 for a Sloane or Wines.

But I am happy if we used both Picks in the draft...

2 Mids. Petracca & Brayshaw

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
