Geelong Delist Five Players

"Geelong has announced that Nick Bourke, George Burbury, Jordan Schroder, Jackson Sheringham and Jesse Stringer will not be offered contracts for next season."

I would definitely be giving Schroder a ring, perhaps Burbury also. Strange, as I thought these two would have had at least some trade value.

yeh, schroder and burbs looked a lot more promising than our to be delisted players.

We got Bizzell for Grgic.

Ha HA.

Burbury looked ok a couple of years ago. What happened?

Maxwell's knee knocked him into oblivion.

I posted this in another thread being thoughts passed on from an astute Cats supporter mate:

Jesse Stringer - Inside midfielder. Ok pace, question marks on engine size. Has had off field issues.

George Burbury - Good mid sized forward. Nice kick, attacks the ball hard. Would be surprised if the Cats let him go.

Schroder - Inside midfielder, good size. Won Liston Medal so can play. Didn't think he was on the chopping block either and says they are mad if they let him go.

Jackson Sheringham - Another mid that is outside Cats best 22 and really dropped back a few pegs as some of the younger blokes went past him. Goes alright without being a superstar.

Understandably some of the Cats off-cuts are likely to be enticing, Burbury and Shroder in particular...

PS: I think I might have to change one of my favourite players as he is off to Hawthorn, apparently. Reckon I might add Dom T, the cheese and kisses reckons he's ok too and Bernie, great name and fun bloke !

Fashion changes rapidly WJ.

I find it hard to keep in touch myself.

Thanks for the feedback Ginge!

I could happily see Schroder in our side ahead of a few. What's his pace like?

I saw one or two of Sheringham's games late in the season and would steer well clear.

Looked like a poor man's version (in fact destitute) of Horlin-Smith.

Has Burbury got any other tricks? Tank, speed? Or is he a forward option only?

I found some of these to be very suprising.

I thought Burbury seemed quite good, along with Schroder.

Shame we re-signed Terlich so soon, I would have had one of the two above over him.

The irony is that possibly two of the cats delisted players would be close to best 22 in a dees side.

Yet the afl seems our list as fine and in no need of a priority pick in rejecting out application.

Or is it that these delistees are made to look better with the quality they have around them and they will suck if they came to the dees.

Something doesn't add up for me. Anyone able to help me out on this one?

I don't know too much about either of them, so neither fill me with too much excitement. However, Roos does have a strong tra k record of bringing players from other clubs who sit just outside their best 22, and making them into a 150 game player.

Better than Maxwell's silver hammer, I guess ... :)

Maybe McCarthy has gone past Burbury as that small forward role.

Nick Bourke was on their list for 5 minutes.

If I was Roos, I would be straight after Schroder and Stringer, maybe look at Burbury too.

Burberry clashes with all my Demons clothes. No thanks

But it would look great in the Members' Dining Room.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
