As a footy club we need to get better with creating good culture & development... So players are attracted to our club.... Tyson is a good example ... It can be done whilst FA is favouring top clubs the MFC Can be a club of choice to attract good players.....

A lot of the attraction to FAs seems to be success and/or wealth, not necessary footballing environment. Of course, most of the time this goes hand in hand, but win more games and more FAs will be tempted to come our way.

How the f**k does Hawthorn get Frawley and O'Rourke and lose very little (so far)? This has to be the biggest, most blatant act of inequality in at least 10 years. Incredible that O'Rourke is nominating the team he wants to play for after only a couple of years in the comp. AFL has to sign off on all trades, they should step in and say 'enough'.

Probably they would say losing one of the best players in the comp for pick 17(?) last year balances out. Money in the cap with that list shows what happens at a well run club...

It's funny that with all the trade talks/rumours as to which established midfielders we should target with picks 2 and/or 3, eg, Danger, Sloane, Rockcliff, Shiel, Treloar, Mitchell, Prestia etc, no one ever even thinks to mention Scully.

Sheedy has not received nearly enough criticism for paying so much for this, at best, reasonably good player. That he remains one of the highest paid players in the competition is ridiculous.

Who cares, seriously. Get over it.

Bulldogs are looking to trade Cooney, a player and a pick in the 40s for pick 28 from Carlton.

Doesn't quite make sense to me. Seems over from the Dogs?

Makes less sense for Carlton who are supposedly rebuilding picking up Cooney who's body is almost shot.

Maybe they're taking him as steak knives in the player and picks bit...

Cooney just wants out. Gives Bullies a stack of picks under pick 30.

Day three of the NAB Trade Period kicks off today, in a day that could see our first official trade get done.

Travis Varcoe

Geelong premiership player Varcoe is the latest player to be linked with a move to a different club, with The Age reporting he could become involved in a three-way trade involving Heritier Lumumba and Mitch Clark.

Adam Cooney

Cooney's name has also been thrown up as part of trade discussions, with a potential move forming part of discussions between the Blues and the Bulldogs.

Bombers

Elliott Kavanagh has requested a trade.

James Hird has declared that Paddy Ryder will stay at the Bombers, unless a good deal can be struck between them and Port Adelaide.

The Bombers have also joined the mix to lure Kristian Jaksch from GWS. His preference is Carlton, followed by the Saints.

WJ – just wondering what the Bombers have to offer Jaksch – $1m (they will still need to cover the salary cap) or the captaincy?

Who cares, seriously. Get over it.

I am over it. Completely.

It was merely an observation you twit.

I'm wondering what the hell the bombers have to offer GWS that supposedly Carlton can't offer?

Apparently, Jaksch has refused to even talk to Ess so no matter what they offer GWS (nor probably his parents) will let him go there if he point blank refuses. Not sure if he is contracted, if not he has the option of the PSD and get picked up by StK with their first pick.

So GWS will see him thru to a safe club.

Adam Cooney

Cooney's name has also been thrown up as part of trade discussions, with a potential move forming part of discussions between the Blues and the Bulldogs.

Is it just me or does Cooney get mentioned every year come trade time?

Didn't have his best year last season but I'm very interested in what the offer would be for him. Maybe just wants out and needs a change of environment or maybe he's just a pain in the backside who the doggies want to get rid of.

Wouldn't be the worst addition if his body is up to it and if the price was right

Guarantee you one thing, bet the house on it, this bloke won't walk out on his contract.

The Drugs aren't going to entice anyone for the next few years at least you would think lol. Can't wait to see the looks on the kids faces and their parents reaction on draft night, priceless! Think any kid will take the option to sit out for 2 years or maybe even take up another sport? Lol stuff them, was it worth it Essendrug?

Youd want assurances wouldnt you that such things have been eradicated....

Esesendrug ought to know their penalties before the draft....Going to be interesting

won't need to sit out sweet, they'll just lawyer up

It sure would be interesting if a kid said that Essendon cannot be trusted to provide a safe working environment and then demanded to be drafted by someone else.

They want to get rid of Cooney because a) he's over the hill and b) he's one of the players causing issues with the coach.

DC, you've come around finally.

Was chatting to a Norf supporter and I mentioned losing Greenwood for Higgins as a bust for them. He suggested there were some nocturnal goings on in the vein of 'the king' that might be behind it.

Salacious if nothing else.....

I know he's broken down and I know he might have his head up his arse but I'd seriously look at Cooney if he wasn't going to cost us much. If we can get 15 games out of him to add some depth and class in the middle while our kids come through it would be a great addition.

I think Cooney's too far gone.. A season , or part thereof is all youd get. Better options me thinks.
