Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]

Saints give up: pick 1,

get back: Jaksch & pick 4,

Demons give up: pick 3

get back: Shiel, pick 20ish (or frost)

Giants give up: Shiel, pick 4, Jaksch, pick 20ish

get back: pick 1, pick 3

The giants are essentially giving up pick 4 and 20ish for free, because 1 & 3 would be used to find direct replacements for Shiel and Jaksch. Hard to see the giants doing that... Great deal for the Dees though.

But Frost is from GWS. Why would they trade pick 20ish that they are only going to get back for Frost?

Won't it straight up be Demons give up pick 3 and get Shiel and Frost?

So I just got the following emailed to me from a mate.... who's mate attended a breakfast at the MCC with C Wilson, D Barrett, J Ralph & S Edmund.

Nudge?

I have heard that we are into Shiel as well from a good source and that a deal was looking ok.

Not Jeremy Cameron?

Could be. I read it as connected to the previous lines about WB rather than the following line about GWS. I had also heard from a couple of journos (FWIW) that senior WB players were unhappy with McCarthy.

I was also adamantly told mid year that Hird would never coach at AFL level again.

Latest rounds I've heard amongst the office today.

Dees trade Pick 3 & Mitch Clark to Collingwood

Collingwood trade Beams to Brisbane

Brisbane trade Pick 25 (approx) to Melbourne & Aish to Adelaide

Adelaide tarde Dangerfield to Melbourne

Melbourne then send Pick 2 back to Adelaide and ontrade 25 to Collingwood

Collingwood send Lumumba back to Melbourne

Adelaide: Loose Dangerfiled, gain pick 2 & Aish.

Brisbane: Loose Aish & Pick 25, gain Beams

Collingwood: Loose Beams & Lumumbaa, gain Picks 3, 25 & Clark

Melbourne: Loose Picks 2, 3 & Clark, gain Dangerfield & Lumumba.

Reasonably fair, although a lot depends on Dangerfield not breaking down. We also Then still have our 2nd & 3rd round picks for Stretch & a trade for Frost.

All this makes sense. Would explain Frawleys delay in announcing his intentions.

Who are you referring to with the points about lack of player development and any backwards slide would leave an irreparable mess?

Is it us, GWS or the Bulldogs?

It should read in this order:

  • Giants in MASSIVE trouble, AFL sh1tting themselves – Are expected to go backwards next year, potential spoon.
  • Haven’t invested nearly enough in development and players are already raising concerns .
  • Any backwards slide would see a massive player exodus and the club become an almost irreparable mess – Cameron gone!

If you are referring me as Nudge thats not right.

It was just a random email forwarded to me. The original sender I don't know, he just sent to a mate of mine whos a bomber supporter.

Could be and probably is complete trash and please don't hold me to it but its something to add to the discussions.

I was just happiest about the end part where it talked about GWS being a schamozzle.

No worries. The language is very similar to old Nudge's.

Why is it that when I look at the above I can't help but Collingwood are the big winners in that.

Also the trades don't make sense to me. Just focusing on the trades we participate in (keeping in mind that for the trade to work both parties would typically be exchanging players/picks) we trade:

  • pick 3, Clark to Collingwood for?????
  • pick 2 to Adelaide for Dangerfield and Pick 25 (from Brisbane) - (this is a good deal for us if we kept pick 25)
  • on-trade pick 25 (from Brisbane) to Collingwood for Lumumba??

So, there's one thing missing in this for me. We're sending pick 3, pick 25 and Clark to Collingwood for Lumumba.......WTF!!

I understand the summary of what we'd end up with, but I still don't understand how Collingwood are not sending us more given there are effectively two trades we are making with them.

But again, it would appear that Collingwood are big winners from this. Given the rumours regarding a straight Clark for Lumumba swap, they are effectively getting pick 3 and pick 25 for Beams and they still keep their pick 8 to use on Moore. I don't see why we would need to send so much to Collingwood. Collingwood would come away with potentially Petracca/Brayshaw or one of the young talls like McCartin, plus Moore (F/S), Clark and pick 25 from this period, and we give up picks 2 and 3 plus Clark for Dangerfield and Lumumba. I would hope that we would at least get pick 25 from Brisbane, or Adelaide's pick 10.

To me this is overs. It's the rumoured pick 2 and 3 for Dangerfield, and the straight swap of Clarke for Lumumba but it still leaves me feeling we're not getting enough back. Why would we want to facilitate this for Collingwood without getting more back from them??

It's fair for Adelaide yes, fair for Brisbane, a massive win for Collingwood, and so-so for us IMO.

I've heard a bit of discontent about how the club is running and some not very favourable reports on Cameron.

Gubby & Sheeds haven't come out of it well either.

heres a cracker from facebook - likelihood ratio very low. Al Clarkson to coach Adelaide next year. LOL

Multi million $ contract. Where was he going last year....MIke Sheahan was sure he was going to WC on a similar deal.

Maybe this is true, who knows.

Collingwood trade Lumumba and mid second round pick to North Melbourne for pick 15

Dees trade Picks 3, early second Rd'er & Mitch Clark to Collingwood for now Collingwoods pick 15

Adelaide trade Dangerfield and pick 10 to Melbourne

Melbourne then send Picks 2 and 15 back to Adelaide

Collingwood trade early 2nd Rd'er from Dees & Beams to Brisbane for Aish

Collingwood ontrade Aish to Adelaide

North Melbourne: Lose - Pick 15 > gain mid 2nd Rd'er & Lumumbaa

Adelaide: Lose - pick 10 & Dangerfiled > gain picks 2, 15 & Aish.

Brisbane: Lose - Aish > gain early 2nd Rd'er & Beams

Collingwood: Lose - Pick mid 2nd Rd'er, Beams & Lumumbaa >gain Picks 3 & Clark

Melbourne: Lose - Picks 2, 3, early 2nd Rd'er & Clark > gain Picks 10, 15 & Dangerfield.

I think this is fair for all and also allows for the Dees to then ontrade picks 10 or 15 in other trades

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
