Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]

And this is where GNF will chip in with "due to unfortunate circumstances, the trades that I was just screwing with peoples heads will not eventuate anymore".

Dees "blindsided" by Trenners foot.

As a few on here have guessed, if Sydney is the trading partner we'd need to stump up picks. JT would have been an avenue to getting the right picks needed, if Sydney is the unnamed trade partner I'd expect Watts and Toumpas to be shopped as a way of us getting additional 1st round picks.

Didn't think they were allowed to trade?

This is a disaster for all concerned.

No shock to me when you look at what this club has endured over the last few years. Unprecedented tragedy and heartbreak.

This is a disaster for all concerned. Clearly it disrupts the grand plan. I am unaware of what MFCs plans, whether that is to cover with another player or change tact. Truely aweful news. All the best to JT, his injury us now very much career threatening.

I will still unriddle at weeks end.

Ok enough of the riddles GNF, its surely time to put it out there, for a lot of people here, whats the plan? Surely you could cough something up before the day so it doesn't sound so suss?

This deal better be the catalyst for a mega deal in which we are the beneficiaries of a star.

Otherwise, I will not be happy.

I'm still a strong believer that Trengove has nowhere near shown what he is capable of and I'll be sick if we see it at the tiges.

So what do we think now? His career his most likely over and our megatrade could be in tatters. I've always loved Trenners, but for all of our sakes (except Richmond), it would have been better had he passed the medical, signed a three year deal with them and then injured himself. As it stands, he'll be delisted next year by us.

really love your news sometimes but really over the games your playing. Let's hope jack can come back and not be shown the door like our last captain Jmac. MFC needs to give this guy every chance to come back and never shop him around again. Good luck jack I hope you make a full recovery

Lets hope its a minor set back for jack. I suspect the plan has had to be reassessed which is why Watts may now be in the frame.

I called it early.

Funny how he never gives anything away until after it happens, then works it his way. Full of it. Whats the point in even mentioning anything in the first place.

This is the reason I don't believe sources from the internet.

They're not allowed to trade in players*, if they do they lose their COLA. They can trade in picks.

*they can bring in players, but it will be at the AFL's discretion whether they lose their COLA. ie. they could take blease and not lose it, but would lose it if they got N.Jones.

Edit:

Thinking aloud again - Sydney have the midfield depth to cover the loss of 2 players. They're also bringing in a top 5 talent mid (Heeney) and have Lloyd Perris (highly rated in 2013) waiting in the wings. If they can get a top 5 pick and 2 picks between 10-25 I'd think they'd take it and run.

or he may retire immediately. He'll need good counsel . Wish him well. There wont be any easy decisions here on in.

Wouldn't be surprised if he sues the clubs medical staff down the track

Seems like his foot problems went undiagnosed for a long time and now hes unfortunately paying the price

He played through his foot injuries for over a year before being treated correctly. Disgusting. And everyone could see what was going on he couldn't accelerate at all and couldn't kick over 35 metres yet they still kept throwing him to the wolves every week.

True, he may.

bah, feel really sorry for Jack. If he goes another full year on the LTI, essentially our first pick in the rookie draft is a main list pick. Hope we make it count.

edit: or Harmes gets a crack at the main list.

Find it interesting that the day Trengove is ruled out yesterday, all of the sudden Jack Watts Trade rumours appear on this site from nowhere.

Well, you'd bloody hope that this was the club's back-up plan. Particularly, if they had an inkling Trenners would not pass his medical.

Have a feeling he stuffed it trying to complete the medical :/

That's what I heard. Will be furious if its revealed Richmond pushed him too hard, obviously...

This has to be investigated

and if it turns out thats what happened the AFL must force them to give us their pick 12

Oh come on, they were putting him through a medical of course they had to test out his injury.

I don't like the fact we have gone from Trengove to Watts. It just seems like trading for trading's sake.

Obviously only if it's part of some grand plan to get a player like Dangerfield.

No one wants to trade Watts just to upgrade pick 23 to 12.

Can't believe your post. An event happened, scuttling a trade for JT and pick 12, which could have been central to deals for players and you slag off at GNF. If I was him and got this crap, I wouldn't bother.

To a point, not to levels that are against the advice of medical staff.

Think you mean tack as in sailing, rather than tact as in diplomacy, or maybe not. Anyway I enjoy the riddles, is this another one?

Or he might tread carefully next time he decides to post what he's heard. I enjoy GNF's posts, but I can understand any wrath he receives from DLers in the wake of his coc-k-teasing riddles yesterday and now the seeming tenuous nature of a megatrade.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
