The 2014 finals thread

Everytime I watch north and Richmond in the finales it make me sick because we were a head of them in our rebuild now there both playing finals and we are second last again on our 3rd rebuild.

We were never ahead of North, they always had the edge on us but we should have been somewhere near or approaching them now.

seriously you would just want to hit boomer harvey wouldnt you. when he was having a go at hawkins, hawkins if he wanted to would just flatten him. geelong are playing woefully. They are missing targets, fumbling and turning it over.

The signs have been there for a while. Their senior players have been making mistakes over the last year that show they don't have a lot of time left. Think the Mackie kick, Kelly badly beaten by Thomas early, Bartell ineffective, Enright making mistakes, Taylor not being allowed any space.

Of the kids Cady started poorly but really got them back into the game late in the first quarter, Duncan is going ok but the others have been unsighted. Murdoch 1 kick in a half of footy, Thurlow 2, Guthrie 2....

Think you might see more retirements after this game from the Cats.

Immense result tonight for North if they get up. It'll only be the third time in 29 semi finals since the AFL introduced the non-costing-Melbourne-a-premiership finals system in 2000 that the team from the bottom half of the top 8 has won through to the prelim.

But would we have beaten The Doggies or Sydney in the preliminary in 1998?

Finally it's starting to show that players like Guthrie and Horlin Smith aren't actually any good. As bartel, Johnson, mackie and co ease down the rest look less than stars........fantastic. Go Roos.

They're ok but you can't replace champions a few are gone and a few are coming to the end. It will take a big q from Bartel, Kelly and Taylor to get the Cats out of this tonight. Do they have one last effort in them?

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
