Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Are we better just targeting Sloane? Would come cheaper and while everyone else trips over themselves to get Dangers signature we tell Sloane he is our preference.

The risk of a non FA is that the opposition club could play hardball and not deal.

Rarely happens but the risk is there that Adelaide can say to Sloane - re-sign with us or take pot luck in the draft and go to the bottom placed team.

Pardon my lack of knowledge nut but I thought that Sloane too would become a FA at the end of this year?

No. Sloane is a good player, but he's pretty similar to the likes of N.Jones, Tyson, Viney etc. Dangerfield's pace, goal kicking and star factor would be the point of difference we are sorely missing in our midfield.

4+14 for Scully

I'd suggest that any above average player to go to a new team through FA would be the biggest bargain of the last 30 years.

Buddy to the swans for free - before FA that would have required a Judd like deal.

He's a year short. UFA is 8 years, Dangerfield was drafted in 2007, Sloane was drafted in 2008. He'll be UFA at the end of 2016.

Yes he is a gun player but others have said he is not a Gary Ablett, there is a limit to what I would pay Dangerfield. Not saying I don't want us to chase him but definatley need to tred carefully

Dangerfield would command the same wage as you would pay both Shiel & Treloar. The positive in Danger is he is a FA and you don't have to give anything up

Geelong broke their own rule of capping stars at 500k a year when they resigned Harry Taylor and I wouldn't be surprised to see them do it again. Their list has changed a lot since winning 3 flags.

If that rule began in 2008, the cap has gone up over $2m since then.

So $500k then is now equivalent to $625k.

The difference for me with a Dangerfield, is he in that rare category of being a game changer.

We desperately need a game changer ( actually a few of them) .

The arrogance of Geelong and their supporters. They obviously didn't learn from constantly saying how much they wanted Frawley coming into their team last year.

Really hope they plummet down the ladder this year. They only barely scraped through in some of their wins last season.

My word is, and not from Judd's grandmother, is that Dangerfield is no chance to come to us. He knocked us back during the last trade period. It's between Geelong and Carlton.

Hope he goes to Carlton, they have no chance and it will be as good a choice as Judd made.

I am not an optimist, but lets see what 6 months brings us.

We may already have a couple of game changers, but we don't know who they are yet.

We have heaps of game changers.....

Bail kicking short across goal, Mckenzie set shot from top of goal square, watts dropping chest marks inside 50.......

Nah I actually believe Kent will develop into a Isaac Smith type player and be a match winner

Other candidates Hogan, Viney, Jetta (his courageous acts with tackles and marks in def 50 should be the bench mark)

Dangerfield non trade biggest mistake in their club history they could have got picks probably 1&2 and lost pick 10to us would have got pick 11 as compo for losing him now all they will get is a compo pick for him

I was 100% for getting Dangerfield in the last trade period, but not any more. I'm not sure why, becuase he is a star I just want to back in our current crop and focus on getting another big forward and defender.

I might throw money at Cameron but even then I think the $'s will be way overs...

I was all over it too, but in hindsight - the talk at the time very strongly indicated that we were looking to nab a big name (Dangerfield/J.Kennedy) by throwing that pick 23 along with pick 3 AND the pick received by trading Trengove (12?).. so it's quite possible by JT failing that medical, we missed a big name but ended up with Brayshaw, Trengove, Frost, ANB and O-Mac ALL instead of that one marquee player.

I think in the current climate, the HUGE name players like Dangerfield are 'going for' a huge amount of $$$ and huge compensation in terms of players/picks you give up and IMO it is unlikely to work out to be worth the investment.

However, if you are talking FA you don't have to worry about the giving up of picks/players, of course.

Sounds about right, but I think as the season progresses, if we show strong form, we could re-enter ourselves into the equation.

Waiting another year and getting for free what we would have paid handsomely for last year, would be ever so sweet.

Equally, if you are correct, but Carlton are putrid in 2015, as most fully expect them to be, surely they'll knock themselves out of the running.

Like Frawley last year, Dangers may be leaning toward Geelong, but only a fool would make a decision this far out with so much water to go under the bridge.

I am leaning more to the champion team than a champion led team.

Our history is littered with failures by the big hope of the moment.

We are on the right track IMO, bringing in talented young players and properly developing them. Also adding an experienced player where possible.

We are building a good playing list and we are on the right track.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
