Patrick Dangerfield

I am more used to hearing players quoted with things like 'Premierships are nice, but an extra $500K over the course of my career is nicer' oh wait nobody has EVER told the truth like that

the media is a charade and a joke, lies for simpletons

That's true. You won't often get the direct truth through the media but often, players are so bad at the media side of things it can be easy to read the truth between the lines. Seemingly not in this situation unfortunately.

So, I reckon finals will be in 2 years...and premiership window will open in 3-4 years. So that would take him to 27-28, not 52.

I don't know what you're on, but it should definitely be on some kind of banned list..

That's a bit of a strange one. In most interviews I hear with AFL players they talk about how much they'd hate to play in Grand Final and how happy they are when their season finishes in August. He's a different cat that Paddy.

I haven't heard any of those interviews ....16. I'd be interested to know who some of those players were.

I've got other things to do ....16. So I'll make it easy for you, just give me one or two names from your no doubt extensive list.

I went to a post grand final function late last night and I ran into a friend who's gone into player management. I don't know if he specifically works with Dangers management group, but he gave me 100% guarantee he wasn't coming to us. We made contact, he spoke to us but we weren't the right fit for him. Take it as you will. I hope for Melbournes sake GNF is on the money, but I've had a few good bits from this bloke in the past.

Bought a new TV the other day. They couldn't even give me a 100% guarantee!

Hey man, can you please refer me to GNF's post?

Dangerfield has the chance to make a statement and show there are still some players left with the balls to go to a lower ranked club and help them out of the cellar

Or will he just be like 99% of AFL players who would rather a free ride and don't have the guts to take on a real challenge?

Most of our draftees at draft camp!

Since when are "AFL players" the same as " draftees at draft camp!"? Are these posts an an attempt at humour?

Nice thought. But reality says players mainly want 2 things, big money and premiership medallions. If he comes to us it will be because we offer him sooooooooooooo much money he's prepared to accept he may never get a medallion.

I think you've misunderstood my original post. Was quite light hearted. Clearly every player is going to be envious of teams in finals and want to win flags. Clearly no player has actually said they'd hate to play in a grand final.

Anyway, back on topic.

No I didn't misunderstand your cheap shot at my post at all. I posted on the basis of an interview I actually heard on the radio. Your unfunny and invented reductio ad adsurdum piece of sarcasm drew a question from me that you are unable to answer. In future, if you cant put up then shut up.

it will all come down to Roos

If he can convey the same belief to Danger that PJ obviously conveyed to him then who knows :)

Cheap Shot? Really? His first post was funny. You're probably right and the modern history of the trade period supports your view that superstars of the competition don't come to clubs like the 2014 Demons but 16 made the simple, light hearted point that all players when on the move highlight non-monetary reasons for their deceit. If Melbourne fans have learnt anything from Messrs Scully, Judd, Clark, Frawley etc . . . it is not to read too much into basically anything that they put onto the public record.

Unfortunately, I was interstate at a wedding and unable to attend the GF. The GF has in previous years proven the most fertile field for finding out who we are targeting and what is likely to occur. As such i have no further news on Danger. I will see how I go this week, but alcohol indeed loosens lips. It is disappointing not to be able to take advantage of such an opportunity.

For those who are confused, unlike Roos last year, I have never said we will get Danger, I have only said we are going hard at him. We can offer him the most coin and offer AFC the best deal....... but we need to convince a Danger. Obviously this is a tough sell, Roos will need to weave some magic.

I am however aware of other A graders we are targeting, some have been mentioned, others if successful will be a suprise to the media and demonland but are very exciting prospects....... much the same as Tyson last year. Danger however is the only superstar on the market this year.

I am sure you all understand why it is not in MFCs interest for me to let on who these players are. Particularly since it has become clear that there are those in the media who follow these threads.

In my defence, I found it hilarious. But who doesn't love their own material.

I'm sorry I've upset you. Point is, we all shouldn't get too sucked in by what players say publicly and try to over analyse it.

Who says if he comes to us that we aren't up there in 4 odd years time? A bloke named Paul Roos is a good operator. Who thought Angus Monfries would be playing in a prelim this year.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
