This is the point. If we don't get him this year, our chance is prob gone.

Agree.

I still wont discount the possibility of getting Rodney, despite Adelaide's public denials.

Public talk is cheap in the AFL. (Brendan Bolton won't keep being publicly interested in jobs because the public rejections hurt you. Same way that Voss "isn't interested in coaching" but if suns came knocking he would go.) Adelaide need to stick fat for the moment and hope they can tie Danger down for years, otherwise they risk a pick 11 for him as FA compo in 12 months time.

I don't care what Adelaide says publicly, the pick 2&3 combo bait is enticing. Lot of unknowns over in Adelaide. Not many here now.

Personally, I don't think we're much hope of landing him. We're pinning most of our hopes on some unsubstantiated rumours, mainly from anonymous Demonland posters.

However, the sudden news re. Griffin gives me some hope. That really came from nowhere. The landscape can change in a matter of seconds.

He also said that Paddy wants to stay at Adelaide , so won't be happening.

He did say , though, that we would contact, Griffin and Cristiansons management.

Found the comment about Griffen interesting. He's "waiting to hear back from his manager".

Also rumours that the Greenwood trade might have fallen through and he's changed his mind about Collingwood. WTF is going on?

It's the Bizarro world AFL Trading period.

Hopefully just a ploy....but with one week to go we will find out pretty soon.

Let's be honest, would the football manager of GWS have come out last night and said they'd successfully courted Griffen?

If we have Danger it's going to be revealed in a very controlled fashion and not in a radio interview.

Football Managers like Mahoney are great at avoiding questions and telling white lies, but I thought he was pretty emphatic about Dangerfield. Doesn't sound like it's going to happen.

Speculation can now carry on for another 12 months!

sounds like lots of offers & counter offers are being thrown around, so no one wants to commit to using their Early Rnds picks just yet. Looks like there is a much stronger push from all clubs this year to get those mature players, & the draft has been seen as the 'slow journey to power'.

yes but Danger may want to get to the Cats or Hawks OR, but this year they don't have the cap space or the picks/trades available to get him over the line.... so he could be waiting for those teams to get their ducks in order for the 2015 off season.

# Or maybe Pies; maybe Mr e magoo is stalking him with his car, escorting Beams Nth, so he can spend $$$ & picks like living Dangerously.. I always thought there may be something to e d's cleanout, of the last couple of seasons.

I reckon he's into Danger, big on him, like he has for lovechild Bucks.

Not sure about the Dangerfield rumour of trading him for picks 2&3 (which is also mooted to involve sending Toumpas back home despite the MFC website saying only recently that he was a required player). Effectively Melbourne would be giving away three top three draft picks for one player! No thanks; l don't care how good he is! I have confidence in Roos, Goodwin and Stone as being capable of developing our own superstars. It is is not as though we are in a Premiership window next year and we do have a succession plan in place with Roos/Goodwin!

I am quite happy to have Brayshaw, McCartin/Wright and Toumpas in our stable of home grown stars!

I did post a rumour about us going hard at Danger. It turns out Mahoney said we had offered picks 2 & 3 but got knocked back. Many a slip between the cup and the lip my old grandpa used to say, and we still have a wonderful 5 trade days to go!

Come on D Land the reason we haven't got him is because we haven't made the 100 pages. The fish tales helped the count but we still have time.

If griffin goes to gws look out for shiel or treloar coming our way!!!!

Posted

Dogs need key position players- mcartin, wright etc

Griffin to gws,

treloar, shiel or both for either 2,3 or both

Dogs get there picks!!

Posted

How come?

they'll want to trade back into top 5.

as I said yesterday, all eggs still in Danger basket. Plan B is to go to GWS with godfather offer for Treloar or Shiel.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
