don't really think bomber would be the one to take us forward, but FCS I hope they get the senior assistant in very soon because he needs as much time to learn under Roos as possible, 2 years is a blink of the eye and then Roos is gone and then what? Neeld 2.0, Bailey 2.0?

tbh i'm not fussed if this 'person' doesnt't appear until the end of next season. That would be logical....to me

I reckon Bomber coming on board would be a great for the club, ideally would love to see Bomber and the successor come on board this pre season, 2 years under Roos and Bomber and Stone should have anyone more than qualified and ready to do the job, especially if Bomber and Roos could be convinced to stay on in some capacity and oversee things

given it turns out that the bombers players knew there were wada banned substances on the premises at essendon

i dont want anyone NEAR our club from that one.

Bomber is just as guilty as the rest of them, he must have known what was going on, and he still thumbs his nose at the rest of the competition by refusing to pay his fine.

he can go and get f'd

I'm somewhat amused that there's any move to secure Bomber at all. Firstly it would seem an extravagance to have him as early as next season even if he was a candidate of any kind. Secondly I wouldnt be going near anything ESSENDON whilst no outcome to the current dilemma is resolved. and Thirdly. By many accounts if you were to apply the Roos no DH rule ...Thompson would fail !!

After reading a post a few weeks ago by a certain demonland member who I rate very highly (initials GNF) in conjunction with the media reports regarding Thompson's future at the Dons next year (unlikely to be alongside or back behind Hird), I certainly found his and Roos' segment on AFL 360 this week very very intriguing.

During the segment when asked about his position next year whilst given a large and blatantly obvious wink by reporter Mark Robinson, Thompson responded with the usual public relations (PR) give nothing long winded response, whilst Robinson continued to throw his head back and forward between Thompson and Roos as if he knew something and was stirring the pot.

AFL 360 link: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2014-08-26/paul-roos-on-afl360

Over the course of the season I have really enjoyed watching this segment and the discussions between two quality coaches, you can clearly see Roos and Thompson are on the same level and clearly enjoying bouncing off one another's thoughts.

I believe it is appearing more likely (as initially suggested by GNF) that if Thompson is on the move at seasons end and that he will end up at the Dees.

If this comes to fruition having two high quality coaches will be truly marvelous for our player development and game plan - one a specialist in defense with the other a specialist in attack.

landing Bomber would be a major coup for Melbourne Football Club. He would form a dynamic duo with Roos for the next two years with Bomber taking over full control afterwards.

Also like Neil Daniher(arguably our best and most successful coach since 64) Bomber T oozes character and charm. The players would love him and supporters likewise.

Wonder if there is an emergency Board meeting this afternoon ahead of their AGM tonight. Would expect some aggressive Member questions at AGM re Bomber (the coach) status! Expect an uproar if EFC let him slip. Will be enjoyable to sit back and watch the sparks fly!

Edit: sorry, think it could be their B&F tonight so we may need to wait a while for the sparks to fly!

I love the fact that we are a steady/stable club this off season....

It's great watching other clubs implode for once.

The media also seem to have woken the fact that things are not rosie at Pie Land either.

Interesting times ahead

i expect little and the old board will be overthrown for failing the club, new board will sack Hird and will give the gig to bomber thompson.

who would you rather coach. A team in turmoil. ..whats left of them...with sanctions coming...or an up coming team in the Sun ???

Take your time :)

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
