Well, forget about that pick up. Just saw a bite from the presser.

He looks absolutely shattered. Maybe he tested the waters elsewhere and got no interest?

Ryan would be welcome at MFC in a mentoring role for a year or two.

Agree, same as Cross give him a year and see how it goes. I would have a 34 yo O'Keefe in my team before the three signings we had this week.

He's not all that fast anymore, which I imagine why he's not getting a game with the Swans. You'd think Roos would know exactly what he could offer the Dees

Just get him down as a coach if he wants it. Forget about him playing. We need to fast track up the ladder, not carry another veteran who is slower than Jack Trengove.

He is finished.

I don't know if you could put Brynes and O'keefe in the same sentence.

Yeah his pretty old in footy terms but he will be able to teach our young midfield the type of training habit you need to become an elite footballer for a long period of time and that type of stuff is what we need at the MFC.

I wouldn't be surprised if Roos is calling him right know to arrange a coffee chat about coming to Melbourne for one season next year.

In fairness, O'Keefe is (was) twice the player Byrnes is.

But agree with your point

My point deeko is that neither could get a game in the seniors in their last year with their previous teams.

Cross on the other hand played most of his last year with the Dogs.

Over the hill we don't need O'Keefe

The different is the Dog are at the bottom where the Cats and Swans are at the top.

Of cause the Cross would get a game at the Dogs there was no one to replacing him.

Well how come Cross has been 10 times the player that Brynes was the last two years?

If he decides to play on, he'll probably end up on a list somewhere.

Let's not forget that there's at least 100 players on various lists that are no better than C graders. Many are worse than C grade ... the League overall has a depth issue because of the expansion sides.

If he was on our list right now, he'd probably be one of our best 15 players. Definitely top 20. Think of the worst player on our list and replace him with O'Keefe.

Not every player on a list needs to have a "possible" 10 year career ahead of them. We're screaming out for winners and experienced players who can lead the way. The truth is we need 4 or 5 players of O'Keefe's ilk (not just with 1 or 2 years left - players like Vince could play another 3-5 years)

I agree that Brynes was no good but Brynes was and is not at the same elite level as O'keefe.

So what if he is over the hill, it wouldn't be all about him playing it would be about showing our young guys leadership on the field at our club and that's what we need right now.

Next person who calls Byrnes "Brynes" gets a ban.

(Not serious - but please - can we *try* and spell the guy's name right?)

Paul Roos just said its probably 12 months too late in recruiting ROK but hasn't completely shut the door yet.

doubtful he will be at the Dees next year as a player, maybe as a coach but.

there is a link to the page but my computer wont let me for some reason....

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
