People need to stop saying that he 'fills a need' for certain clubs, and that we should receive a quality player in return.

Through personal connections with Mitch, I know for a fact that his doctors informed him (after his ill-fated comeback attempt in 2013) that there was less than a 30% chance of him making a comeback - effectively citing that less than three out of every ten people who suffer lisfranc injuries regain full functional capacity.

Couple his unproven physical health with his well-documented mental health issues (trust me, they are legitimate), and you have a player that, despite his very obvious talent, holds minimal trade value. AT BEST I see us bringing in an early third-rounder from a team crying out for a forward (I.e. Doggies). Even then, they would likely only be receiving a player that makes them look better on paper.

I don't see his career getting back off the canvas if he tries to come back. As much as I liked Mitch as a person (have fallen out of contact recently), I hope it's another club that gets sucked into believing otherwise.

If that's the case, he's done us a favour, even though he's seemingly 'screwed us over'.

well... your post isn't helping your wish, of another club getting sucked in... Shhh...

If he stays with the club I still hope he is forced to pay back the money spent on that womans university course

Absolute joke the members money went to that crap

It is a joke, we paid the guy 2million dollars so why the [censored] did we need to use members money on paying for his womans uni course? it has nothing to do with the club and has no benefit at all. We would have been better off putting those funds into facilities or staff. [censored] even paying a 16 yr old kid the money to give our players oranges would have been better value ffs.

What an absolute waste of a war chest.

Yeh. How many people would say that right now that would be a win for us?

On the basis of what the players are known to be capable of right now, youd be forgiven for thinking its a win.

Any chance she can play football, maybe she will show a little more gratitude for what she received.

Georgiou is on the case...

Just had the weirdest meeting with Roosy. He just handed me a fistful of cash & asked me how I'd feel about killing a key forward #xmas4alex

As if Alex isnt in enough strife...lol

Just a question...can you point me to the details of exactly what he was being paid ? I am interested that you know that the university course that apparently was paid for was over and above his contracted salary ? You are aware that many many large salary packages are not simply cash but can also include cars, school fees, housing repayments etc.

Looks like there might be a lot to be unhappy about with MC. but I'm not sure if paid uni course is one of them. Any which way you look at it, Mitch hasn't been a good investment.

After watching 360 it simply shows us the reason Roosy is in control and it gives me the utmost confidence that we have the right people at the top now. He gave away nothing either way and I felt all he is now concerned about is what is the best for the MFC moving forward. I am now sitting back enjoying the ride knowing that whatever decisions are made we are in very capable hands.

Have to say I have a similarly good feeling, that I didn't have with Bailey or Neeld. As I've mentioned, Roosy came in last year and used the hand that we had to get 3 players that finished in the top 5 of the bluey - I expect him to recruit intelligently again, this time with some serious cards in hand, and who knows we might have 3 more new faces in next year's BnF

What's with the moronic comments about us allegedly paying for his girlfriends uni course? One since when it is a fact. Two what possible relevance does it have. This thread is an embarrassment to demons fans

A smart arse comment by Ross Lyon on Nine News, saying "Mitch who, what is his name". Then the reporter said "Clark" and he said "oh, he had a chance to come to us and didn't want to".

Pretty ordinary and the guy is suffering from a mental illness, by the way.

and thus any accountability for actions made before the onset of mental illness should also be remitted

I didn't see you complaining before this week.

I legitimately hope that he stays with the club after your asinine comment.

before this week? That would be the time prior to the dog act, why would he have said it then?

No pun or disrespect intended but this is the most depressing thread I've ever read on Demonland

I don't see what is so depressing about it. Most here (not me) had the attitude of 'stop dreamin' Mitch will never play again' before this week. Well we haven't got him back, but we will get something, which is more than the nothing we had a week ago. Roos will take that something and turn into quality for the club, so I'm happy.

I find it amazing posters who demand, and expect, loyalty from players - yet turn on them at the drop of a rumour, viciously so in many cases.

Truly amazing, to the extent of it being bizarre.

no exactly. Why expect loyalty from players when the income of the teams that pay them is largely based on the emotional loyalty of their supporters

if yhe supporters thought the same way mfc wpuld hace folded in the 80s.

So if your ok with that then keep your eye on the gold and brown...

Considering Clark was basically a zero asset a week ago I would say it's a free Lumumba

It's what clubs do to look after their players. They don't expect to then get knifed by said players.

Obviously the Manager or the Pies now feeding the Press. When it gets to disclosing the terms of his retirement package, we know it comes from the inside.

No wonder Eddie didn't comment on Mitch, when he had the chance to. He knew what they were doing behind the scenes.

The Pies are known as one of the difficult clubs to deal with at trade week.

Its all so squeaky clean isn't it ?

Fair point

Reminds me of my Babcock & Brown shares bought at $8.60

That's $10,000 I'll never see again.

Then some litigation firm starts a class action to recover some of the "lost" money and they want 50% of any recoveries.

Half is a bit steep, but my accountant says 50% of something is better than 100% of nothing so I signed up

I would rather let him go into the draft and roll the dice lobbying for a PP than swap him for Lumumba.

Pretty sure we would get some good support from quite a few corners.

Blowing MEMBERS MONEY on some womans uni course

a woman that has nothing to do with the club

If you cant see the problem with it then i dont know what to tell you

Btw from what i understand Clark's contract was heavily front loaded meaning his retirement arrangement might have reduce what would have bern a neglible fourth year payment. But remember - Ross Lyon is i the bad guy here.

It's not a problem because it didn't happen.

Clear enough?

By that logic, any money Mitch Clark spent on his little girl or his wife is wasted money. Not EVERY cent Melbourne spent on Mitch Clark actually went to Mitch Clark himself.

What's the difference if we payed for a Uni course or he did? In the end it's all the same.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
