Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

As had been reported previously on site - the Rev is battling the terminal illness known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Those diagnosed have a life expectancy of 2-4 years.

The Rev's health is getting worse and he's done an interview with Tim Watson that will be on Channel 7 Monday night - apparently very moving.

Just want to pass on my best to the great man who in retrospect did an unbelievable job at the Dee's. If only we could go back to the days of complaining about making finals every second year!!

Just saw the add will watch, I saw the Rev about 18 months ago in Leederville and said a quick hello and thanks for the memories of your era. Whilst I knew he was struggling health, very hard to imagine the man I saw on the add was the same man I spoke with 18 months ago.

Best wishes to Neale and the Danniher family

Will never forget chatting with him after the Brisbane win in 2002 at the German club, I'd imagine that's got to be one of his best wins. Really nice bloke, very sad that he's got such a terrible disease.

I will definitely watch this now I have heard of it. What time is it on? I don't actually watch much TV these days to be honest so I couldn't tell you when it will be on and what version of Channel 7 it will be on.

I had a friend die of this horrible disease. At 25 he was a fit and healthy man with a lovely wife and two little girls. At 28 he was dead, and we'd watched helplessly as his body shut down.

It's about a bad a way to go as anything you can think of.

the Reverend was so awesome for the MFC

Not just a great coach but he was great for morale and a brilliant spruiker for the MFC

He had us play finals in 98, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006

We had a brownlow medal winner under him. A coleman medalist. Many players that were a joy to watch.

He took took us to a granny for christs sake

Whats different then to now? Why did we have spirit then and not now?

Miss you Neale, you legend

I loved the Rev. Bawled like a baby the last game he coached us against Essendon. Rev - your era of coaching bought me hope and many thrills. I don't have much of that at present.

Sending my prayers and best wishes to you and your family as you face this challenge ahead.

Such a likable, friendly guy - this news breaks my heart.

A close friend of mine died of Motor Neuron Disease not so long ago, he went from an active man to being wheel chair bound in the space of 2 years after diagnosis and died not long after.

Watching his body deteriorate was unpleasant and frustrating as there is little you can do other than support. I feel for the Neale and his family.

At present I would kill for the success we enjoyed during his time at Melbourne.

What a sad, sad set of circumstances for a champion person. Will never forget the night we came from nowhere in 2005 against the dogs to make the finals and the reverend marching down the southern stand fist pumping in the final seconds.. Good luck mate!

Just horrible news. I knew he was not well but had no idea it was so bad, with so little hope of survival.

My sister in law from the UK used to serve him lunch nearly every day when we trained at junction oval. Initially she had no idea who he was, but she said what a lovely, kind and funny man he was.

Only Swooper Northey had been a better coach for our club in my 45 years.

I wish you all the very best Neale, one of footys great men!

terrible disease MND, i have had plenty of experience of patients with this over my career, as ND said, it is truly like watching your body die and not being able to do anything about it. i hope the club get involved in some way, the man was part of a successful period and was loved, and still is. maybe all us demonlanders can get the message across to the footy community and the public in general.

MND / ALS is quite topical at the moment. Those of you on social madia may be aware of the ice bucket challenge

I wish Danners all the best. Champion bloke who gave our club some great times. My daughter became a committed Demons the day Neale signed her Melbourne cap. Which she still has

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
