That sounds awfully convoluted.

I just think that if players want free agency they need to be willing to accept trade free for all - no more negotiating with players, but if clubs agree to a trade then it's done.

Sign-and-trade introduction is a must.

why bother then; lets just give the players over, & let them cheapen the value of a Premiership Cup.

then when the competition totally dies off, a seed of our game will re-germinate, & from little things big things can grow.

Frawley .. stay or go

I've come around after seeing our results & playing behaviors lately, that We need Chip to go. We need his help, to speed up our rebirth.

Otherwise if it takes too long, I fear we will lose players we need for our longer term health.

time to go Chip, & get us some Aid.

If he can get 700ks a year for 7 years He is clearly brighter than Cook fowler

Just because he is asking for this does not mean he is not intelligent

I understand that supporters get miffed when one of ours weighs up their options but to insinuate they are dumb is just foolish

Edit.......Bloody quote button does not work

To get everyone offside with outrageous demands and to make them public is dumb I'm afraid.

Sorry......I wont go on with this but can you please tell me how you or anyone else knows

a/ What has been offered and by whom?.......sources please

b/ What Chip is asking for?.........sources please

Or are you just relying on what some idiot says in the media?

Obviously there are no from the horses mouth sources but it has been widely reported and no denials are coming from the Frawley camp. This has been going for so long now that sentiment on this forum has changed over time from Chip being valued and a required player to hope he goes and we get good compensation that this negotiation via media has back fired. Can't remember another example of a free agent where the specifics of demands have been so public. His on field performance hadn't helped either.

The only denial, which came from Chip himself, was that he had set an 800k price on his head to move to another club. Doesn't necessarily mean that isn't what he is asking but, in terms of the length of contract, he camp hasn't said anything about it.

I acknowledge that I perhaps should have said that hia approach to the negotiations around his contracts have been dumb.

I stand by the fact that over time he has lost the good will of a lot of the supporter base.

Can't argue with that, but I also think it's clearly going to the be the norm going forward. Players will put off contract talks and incur the wrath of the supporter base regardless of their future decision.

But he's not. He's a Demon.

And this is a Demons supporter forum.

Certain posters on this thread have asked, why the hate?

First of all, I don't believe there's any hate.

It's just disappointment that one of our most valuable players might be leaving the club. Added to this, there's frustration/annoyance that he doesn't appear to be being upfront with the club and its supporters about his intentions, which is especially grating given that he's currently one of the club's leaders.

I actually think, why the surprise?

Spot on R B.

The only thing I would add is instead of "might be leaving the club" would be "IS leaving the club".

If he wanted to stay he would have signed by now like other players have.

He's gone IMO.

He (and his manager) should of just kept his trap shut and only said to anyone that ask about his contract "no comment until the end of the season" or "I am not commenting on it until the end of the season".

It's not overly difficult really but he has made it that way with the dribble that he has been saying all season.

He wont be missed

A top 5 pick will be massive overs for him

Huge win for the MFC

Seriously??? Tom McDonald does a calf in the pre-season and we have enough KPD's to cover him???? We're playing WCE at Pattersons in R2 and we've got enough quality key backs to cover Kennedy, Darling, McGovern and Cox???? We will get good compo for Chip. But we will miss him big-time in the short term.

Not that fussed if Chip stays or goes. If it's the latter we should receive good compensation and he's simply operating within the rules as they currently exist.

The sound of the sign and trade concept intrigues me however.

Such an arrangement sounds like it would dilute the power of the wealthy/ finals positioned aggressor and even up the negotiation a bit.

As things are, being down the bottom leaves you mightily exposed on both fronts.

Wouldn't mind teasing this out a bit.

As I have stated previously, Geelong Bound, influenced strongly by his association with great mate Jarryd Rivers, 6- 7 year deal around the 6, 650 mark is my belief!

I don't think there should be a rule about contract lengths, if a club is willing to risk paying a player for 7 years, 9 years or whatever then so be it.

All it takes is one injury in the 1st year of their contract and its all over, wasted money.

Kouta was a perfect example of long contract, bad injuries, nothing in return.

Too short sighted of you h_h, he will be missed regardless of the hate... but a top 5 pick will be very handy if he goes walk.

Aaron Hamill also comes to mind.

Understand what u r saying but we have Mr Bean developing and the way Roos style of play is that the mids help a hell of a lot in the defensive area.

Work as a TEAM not as individuals as we have been doing in the past.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Roos knows exactly what is going on (without being told directly) and is already planning for it.

I have enormous confidence in Roos and what he will be able to do with the compensation pick and the team next season.

That's how I feel exactly.

Nutbean I don't want him to go because he hasn't signed, I'm rapt he hasn't signed. I just don't believe he is that good. He's been living off his uncles rep and one very good year for way to long. I want better defenders what's wrong with that?

I don't have a problem with people suggesting his in THAT good. I can see his obvious flaws. Read through some of the posts on here though - he is not THAT bad.

If indeed he is asking for a 7 year deal - he is definitely not that good.

Posted

Unfortunately he is as good as what is offered him.

If that is 7 years at 600-650,000 a year then that is it.

Posted

every year we lose someone because of free agency and I mean a key person. Can clubs start picking on other teams. Although if someone does want to give frawley a 7 year deal then good luck to you,

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
