He may not be the Messiah, OD; he may in fact just be a very naughty boy but that doesn't detract from the example he sets and the hope he gives to supporters.

Did anybody say, "Yeah, look, that bloke God, he made the world in seven days but let's wait until he's done it a few more times before we get too excited"?

FFS OD - live a little, get excited.

Reverend as you are well aware we have canonised a number of players over the last six years and most are not at the club anymore.

Did you read these three lines?

"Yes he looks good but let the kid develop without the messiah label.

I know we are desperate for someone to love after nearly decade of crap.

But lets acknowledge he is looking good but not yet the messiah"

Is there anything wrong with this?

I enjoy watching him play as much as you but so far he has shown a lot of promise IMO nothing more than that.

Some of the orgasms on here are a bit over the top.

Dependent on age and lifestyle OD, you take what you can get

Is one of the reasons I go to training to watch muscular sweaty men take training tops off?

Excellent OP.

It really was an inspirational, tone setting play.

And as a couple of others have mentioned, the Neitz/McCabe play immediately rung in my mind (my favourite 5 seconds of footy ever).

Hardness has been missing for a while for us. I wouldn't say we've been physically soft or "bruise free", just not hard and aggressive.

There have been many glimpses of that starting to change this year, the Adelaide game was a highlights package of it, and long may it continue.

The Viney incident, plus a couple of other times he cracked in and somehow emerged with the ball.

Dawes breaking ribs and burying blokes in highlight reel tackles.

Vince laying hard bumps and gut running like we haven't seen in a while.

And Cross was just [censored] crazy at every contest.

If this is the foundation we're building on, it'll be a brutally enjoyable ride.

Jack Viney is better than advertised

I knew he'd be good but hes looking like absolute superstar material already

I remember some people querying his pace pre draft, I guess thats just cos he was known as an inside midfielder

the boy is FAST

This kid has leadership written all over him. He is a gem, and a great role model for our young side. I have no doubt he will be captain in the not too distant future.

We are developing some outstanding leaders at the club. In the younger brigade as well as Viney, JKH has outstanding credentials being the only indigenous player to Captain a Teal Cup side. He is also at Melbourne University doing Science so has some brains as well. In the older ones, as well as Jones and Grimes, all of Garland, Vince, Tyson and Cross have strong leadership claims, but I think the one who is very under-rated as a leader is Chris Dawes. Also academically bright (Law at Melbourne), the leadership he displayed against the Crows where he bled Red & Blue and showed outstanding commitment to the jumper and winning was something to behold. It is really quite exciting.

OD, I am one for keeping the lid on, no player is the messiah, but I am already looking forward to seeing Jack, Dom Tyson and Christian Salem become a midfield to drool over, they have Nate Jones, Bernie Vince and Daniel Cross teaching them, what's not to like...

Saty, You forgot JKH, he is not just a small forward. His stoppage work over the past few weeks has improved out of site.

I love this guys, he is exactly what we need in to set strandeds for the next wave of youngsters comming through. You build teams around players like Viney. The best things is he bleed Red and Blue.

There was another bit of play from Viney last week as well, not as great but still epitomised his single-minded focus for the ball. He crashed out of a pack after a centre bounce, was a warded a free kick but didn't even stop to acknowledge the umps whistle, just kept running onto the ball, gathered and delivered into our forward line. There is a LOT to like about this kid, only played what 10 games? but reminds me very much of Joel Selwood who did it from day 1 (albeit in a much better side) as well and never looked back.

Anyone that thinks the way Viney attacks the ball is the minimum expectations needs to talk to the 98% of players that don't do it. This is no disrespect to those players as they do what is required and put their body on the line as our great game expects. There are however few players that attack the contest with the manic disregard and want for body contact that young Jack does. He is a rare diamond.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
