''Spoke to jack fitzpatrick's father yesterday! He's gone from MFC! He will be traded for anything at years end! Also melb & syd r in talks on a possible trade for Reid ! Rumoured our first pick...

interesting..

That's interesting, Reid would be a good replacement for Clark. Yet to take it to the next level but a lot of promise, a good ruck/froward option who is pretty good at contested clearances. Watch how the Swans often use him to come off the line from HF, at centre bounces...he's very good at this.

I know you are only passing it on dazzle, so I'm not shooting the messenger, but I don't believe a single thing that is said on FB. 12 year old kids with too much time on their hands.

Sheeit, if 12 year old kids have too much time on their hands, what's that say about the rest of us??

I don't think its impossible.

Hes not getting a game as a fwd due to the fwd stocks being quite strong, he's probably too valuable to be a depth player, they could get something decent for him and have a cheaper random as a depth player.

Roos would have coached reid wouldn't he have?

Reid is a victorian isn't he?

If he comes to melbourne he can work with one of the most talked up young forwards in the game and potentialy build a formidable duo.

We would pay him quite handsomely, gets to work with 'the messiah'.

we would probably pay sydney overs.

its really a win win for everyone involved.

I would take Reid. He is mobile and has contested marking skills. He gets squeezed out with Kurt and Buddy on the smaller SCG. He signed a long term deal with Sydney a few years ago.

Say why dude, If we are to delist a whole bunch, and a coupe retired, we can't replace them with just petrecca.

My comment follows the poster's, when he says Lyons played a great game on the weekend. That means the Crows will be more likely to keep him.

Beat me to it my thoughts exactly, not sure what radio show it was yesterday but a mention was made of Sam Reid slowly being moved out of the Sydney side position wise and takers could be moving behind the scenes.

I thought to myself he'd be worth looking at.

I dont believe he has done a great deal until the weekend gone.

He has a lot of mids to compete for position against. out of danger, sloane, the crouch brothers, jaesch will prob move to the midfield, kerridge, douglas, not sure how long van berlo or thompson have.

I believe he plays an inside role, but we probably have enough guys that can do the inside work. i wonder if kerridge is tradable.

Everyone seems very confident of us beating gws and I am just wondering why? 50/50 if you ask me

Because they're tanking to get Petracca. They know if we finish beneath them on the ladder they drop two places in the draft due to Frawley compo.

I've never watched him play personally...but would pick 3 get us Tom Mitchell and Sam Reid... or would we have to throw in extra incentives?

That should easily get it done. Any more and that's overs I reckon. Though I'm not sure about trading our first pick for 2 players with relatively low ceilings. Sure there's an argument to say that we should play the percentages and chase 2 established and more well-known players (especially given our recent drafting/development of picks) but I think we're cutting of our nose to spite our face in terms of long term development with that deal.

If we do make that deal...it will really good for us IMO. From what I've heard (might be wrong), I dont think there are any stand out midfielders other than Petracca. I mean Brayshaw is solid and consistent...but ye thats all i know about him. My friends said (Sydney and not Sydney supporters) that Mitchell is probably as good as a top 5 draft pick (in terms of talent...not what he's worth). So, if we got Mitchell and Reid for pick 3..it would definitely be a win for us (in my opinion). Whether its a win for Sydney...I have no idea...I think they need defenders? I hope this makes sense to you guys...i rushed it!

Saints SHOULD'T take Petracca at pick 1 if their realistic about having a possible replacement for Riewoldt (not sure about the spelling) when he retires. Petracca SHOULD be available at pick 2...which we most likely wont have.

they have bigger needs than replacing reiwoldt. replacing Hayes is a bigger need, & goddard, del, etc

There is no way it would be a done deal but if they said yes it would be a massive win for us. As for low ceilings, these are 2 young players with a huge upside.

I get that this puts me in the basket as one of those guys and I'm cool with that. Balls to listening to someone with that many exclamation marks.

@rjay ye...true we would need to offer something extra. If we can provide good enough personal incentives I.e money, more opportunities etc then I think we could get a decent deal done. Don't Sydney need to clear up some salary as well? How bout pick 3 and 20 for those 2 and a later draft pick?

Pick 2 and 3 / 3 and 4 would not affect Sydney's ability to draft Isaac Heeney at all. Academy bidding, like father-son, is done compared to actual draft selection, and conducted prior to trade period.

Would be very happy to get Reid, but would definitely want something else.

Reid and Malceski for pick 3 or 4 would be worth considering.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los
