How about Deledio seeing how we most likely won't match gold coast for Mecelski. He played a good game on Friday and is a awesome kick.

id jump at deledio, most richmond supporters don't realise how good he is.

but unlikely.

If we can't get Malceski, Shiel (because he apparently resigned), Cameron (unlikely), Mitchell (Sydney or Carlton ATM), ROK (hawthorn likely), or O'Rouke (no indication of us being interested), then I wonder who we're going to end up getting this offseason. It might be a suprise, or we might just be going Into the draft...and if we don't get Petracaa...well that's going to b e even more dissapointment. Oh well, I'm optimistic...clearly...

if all those are off limits, then what about Coniglio Tomlinson & Jaksch?

Liam Jurrah just kicked 14.2 in his first game out of prison. Id consider taking a look at how he is doing.

than look, & keep on going westward my friend, & don't stop looking west til you see the seaside.

Just like Beams.

I agree, it's very unlikely but we have some dollars so I suppose all you can do is ask

If GWS tank to get Petracca then I think Roos will trade off both our early picks for established players.

That wouldn't shock me as he has done it before. We have failed miserably at drafting for many years. Getting some experienced players who have plenty of years left in their careers guarantees you have a good idea of what you are really getting. It also adds hard bodies who can play immediately which we clearly need. If he can find a couple more Tysons he will have done well.

I want to see us take Garry Lyons advice and throw cash at underpaid players from successful teams like Hawks. Someone like Shiels would be a good get

Scott Lycett anyone?

Apart from Gawn, we don't really have a decent ruckman for the future.

Jamar is nearing the end and Spencer is depth.

What would it take to get Lycett given that he's out of contract this year?

I'd expect him to do that with Petracca available anyway.

Yes, there's a lot of pre-draft hype on him, but does anyone recall the pre-draft ratings of Trengove, Toumpas, Scully, Watts or Morton?

None have been game-changers for us to date, or even had much of an influence.

Not like Cross, Vince or Tyson have.

With the departures of Clark and possibly Chip, I would love to know who is getting paid. There isn't enough talent on our list to even justify paying the minimum salary cap. Overpaying under performers is as damaging as gifting them games.

Even if it's good advice, I don't want us taking G.Lyons advice ever again. His last lot of advice/ help set us back a long way.

Dawes and N. Jones would be the next highest, a recent Herald Sun article listing the number of players in each pay bracket had Dawes and N.Jones around the 500 mark. Chip wasn't in our highest 25% paid players this year (that's why he's a FA this year), so can assume less than 300k for chip. Clark was listed as between 600 and 650 in that same herald sun article. Would assume that Vince and Tyson are on reasonable contracts for their respective positions within the game at the start of the year. The figures bandied about for Hogan are probably inflated, however there would be some truth in them, probably closer to the 250-300 mark than the reported 400-500.

If trading out all our early picks can bring some immediate success for this club I'm all for it. There's been far too much expectation placed on our coveted early draft picks and almost none of them have come close to fruition.

I'm assuming this is also how Roos treated the draft at the Swans?

IF you had the chance now to recruit one of - Jeff White or Clark Keating; what choice would you make today ?

If we had the pick for Petracca, & the club thinks he'll be the next dominant inside mid, I'd take Petracca ; Unless we could get

the right deal, of 'Player, + Pick, +, ' sort of deal going.

I hope we trade any compo pick as well, to get another dual signing from the pick/s.

* Its not so much one player we'll need to sort us out, its many good players with fresh outlooks, & no bad habits already taught to them.

This is a really bad idea and will improve us to a mediocre club at best. We've been through a lot of pain and I get that supporters want some success but as someone who has been through the bad times and the bad times we have to now look at building a solid future where we can have real success that can be sustained. A short term hit is not good enough.

What we can't do is think the last 7 years is a marker for the future. We have the right people in control now and any players we bring into the club will be chosen and developed properly. We need to build a list and this means drafting and trading, not just trading. Particularly high picks.

Tyson is Not a short-term hit.... nor is Salem

I think you better put your cap back on straight, because its not working for you atmo.

It would be tempting to use both our high picks at the draft imo, if we could get Petracca and Brayshaw, add that to viney, Hogan, Mcdonald, Tyson and co and we are starting to get a core that could take this club somewhere

Posted

jarred lyons from adelaide might still be available?
We almost got the deal done last year.

He played a ripper on the weekend from memory

does that possibly make it even more likely we'll trade our early picks ?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
