Players to target at the end of the year

Recommended Posts

So you were serious..

was answering a question.

but to continue on the sensible path.

sassy wants a clear cut experienced ruckman.

he suggests clark from freo, and expressed"what would it take to get him".

im may be wrong, but an untried 19 yo with no games might be a steal of a trade.

Players i'd like Melbourne to hopefully target at the end of the year.

Patrick Dangerfield- Complete longshot and we'd have to offer our best pick for the bull himself. Also, a pretty healthy pay packet. I'd assume only possible if Frawley Leaves.

Josh Jenkins- Absolute unit. He'd fit nicely with Hogan, Dawes, JKH and Howe down there.

Matt Rosa- Quick midfielder and a free agent, he'd definitely be worth a look.

David Mckay- A free agent who we have targeted previously, i'd love to lure him to the dees. Has dash that we need off half back.

Nathan Fyfe- Same boat as Dangerfield

Dane Swan- I know for a fact that he does not exactly love Buckley. Would come for abit of money and a free agent, we should seriously do our best to lure him.

Adam Tomlinson- In all honesty he'd be my favourite target out of this whole list. I rate him almost as high as Jesse Hogan, no joke. He's an absolute jet of a footballer and would love to take him off GWS (i'm still sad about Scully)

Will Hoskin-Elliot- Same boat as Tomlinson, would love to steal him off GWS

would be great to get one or more of these players, i'd be stoked

We need line-breakers, so Swan is a no-no, particularly with his age and baggage (Cougar bottle downed in limo on way to St. B's formal was the start).

Danger would command a mil.

Brad Scott suggested Nat Fyfe is the best u/22 year old in the country. He is the complete package, but might not be classified as pure-line-breaker, but I wont quibble here. Question... do many stars under Ross Lyon leave? Kozi last night said Roos/Sydney offered big money in 05. Sure there have been many more that have refused big coin.

Rumour has it that Fyfe is open to offers, surely we'd have the coin.

Sweet that would be good. Id love to get him but I think it will be hard to get him across from Freo

I initially felt we were no chance of landing Roosy, but the stars started to line up, when he made the team he'd pick it was really starting to become obvious we were a serious consideration, I was even told we approached him after the loss to Essendon in round 2, so who knows how long that was in the works.

I am sure the club is putting a full effort into both Tomlinson & Hoskin-Elliot. Both these guys are exactly what we need.

What sort of players are they GNF? I am not familiar with the GWS list.

Adam Tomlinson is a very impressive 193cm mobile forward.

Works hard up & down the ground. Quite impressive.

Bound to be squeezed out to somewhere now that GWS have Boyd, Patton, Cameron & McCarthy as forwards.

Will Hoskin-Eliot is a whippet-like tall running player.

Covers ground like Lewis Jetta.

Not convinced on his hardness, but he obviously runs very hard.

Skills seem good without being amazing.

Where he is now is probably the best we could ever hope for with Blease... if Blease had a more substantial tank.

*would be very happy with a "pick 3 for both" type deal.

Tomlinson and Plowman would knock my socks off.

my hit list would be

F/A

goldstein

Mundy

Rosa

i see no reason we couldn't snare all three if we offer the dollars free'd up by clark and perhaps chip if he leaves ( hope he stays)

and I'd do some serious trading with other picks

#3 for Jonothan Patton - vic boy, dees supporter, must be nervous about his spot with Boyd breathing down his neck, a pay rise might get his attention

#4 ( if frawley goes) I wonder if this would snare us Luke Parker and a pick?

#21 - Zac Smith - i still rate him as one of the very best emerging ruckman, seems to have fallen down the pecking order a little at the suns with Niccolls playing well, worth a try?

#39- Billy Stretch FS

#57- todd viney magic picks

DFA

another Daniel Cross type would be good, i wonder if we could snare Chris Judd on a 1 year deal that leads into coaching?

perhaps a key defender? Nathan Brown seems to have fallen out of favour at the pies.

I'd be interested in Golstein, but I suspect he'll be required at the Kangaroos for a little while yet as Daw matures. worth an $$$$ inquiry. if we could pick up 1 older Ruck & one older Mid/Forward as respites & teachers, our development area would sore IMO. But they would Have to be topline culture leaders like RO'Keefe for 1.

Rosa definately, or the likes of Parker, Shuey, etc. Ontop of these, trade a compo pick for a Shiel/Gaff/??? 21Yr - 24Yr old mid.

I would think the Blues & Pies would be heavy into this type of trading. Not the sort of horse trade I think Roos gets into.

I think Roos looks for honest good deals. not the ones that upset things at home.

we have to look to players who want out, or want to return home, or aren't getting a go at their club.

# my gut tells me that Yarran could be a good get if avail', & the Roos team would make an honest player out of his skill sets?

Goldstein apparently after more money that Rios so far unwilling to offer

Currently on $400,000 a year ish.

We could offer 550,000 on a four year deal

Mackay and Rosa both considered likely to head home to vic

The biggest fish I would chase is Taylor walker, offer him the money Clark was on and get Bernie and clisby in his ear, us beating Adelaide would have him questioning where they are at

No definitely not Swan. Would have the same effect on culture that Buddy has had (disastrously) on the Swans. Goes totally against Roos well known no d****ds policy. And Swan is definitely one, as well as his well known dodgy connections.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
