Isn't it wonderful what Roos can do.

Last year Jetta looked horrible, was OK at VFL level, but nothing more. His first match for us this year was another "why did we even bother with him again" (pretty sure it was against Adelaide, I might be mistaken), but ever since, he's something different. Kept Wingard quiet today (until obviously injured), and there's just something different about him now. Looks a much different player, both him and Bail have been great for us and should both give themselves pats on their backs.

M Jones is another I have hopes for too, not the best player by a mile, but his first half today was absolutely great. Tried to take the game on but got caught a few times, which is frustrating yes, but at least he is having a go.

Then we have boys like JKH, Salem, Tyson, Viney, Toump, Michie, etc, who have all shown us that they will be absolute champions.

Bollocks. the revisionism on this site is unbekievable. Jetta was decent until he got suspended last year. he didnt break back in to the side until the end of the year when he played a very good small defender role against the bulldogs at Etihad. feel free to comment on players but do it accurately

Interesting to reflect on this topic now, as Roos and co have completed a mid season review of their own. I think at this stage of the year if you are not contributing on a regular basis at Casey then it raises the question as to whether or not Roos sees you as part of the list moving forward. Jetta and Bail have gone from clogger's to contributors and look handy for us. Question marks remain for Blease, Tappy, Nicho and Evans.

The next few weeks will be interesting, but my honest opinion on our list is that Roos has already made up his mind with some of the players on our list and we might not see them again.

i think 1 dimensional /inconsistent formed players like Blease and Nicholson to an extent are not what the club needs atthe moment.

and please, without sounding politically incorrect, as long as Nev stays out of trouble, doesnt go awol on fishing trips, and eats well (not too well) then we have a potential Rioli floating packs and i really like the prospects in keeping him over any of those previously mentioned.

In saying that, we wouldve said get rid of Pedo last yr!

Given that Port showed us up for pace yesterday, we really need the likes of Evans and Blease to step-up. Even if Blease were to become just a specialist super-sub he could still be great weapon in the arsenal.

And to do that he will have to put in a few consecutive blinders at Casey, ones that absolutely demand promotion.

I actually thought ol' diamond was destroyed by bad coaching and development, Funny that he then ran a development squad for the club.

I tend to disagree re DJ - he was surely a well developed player who didn't fit into a club with a once great culture that suddenly, and of its own doing (the sacking) found itself in precipitous decline.

Jetta played against the GCS and the Swans. Not many rated him, but he wasn't our worst in either game. His Adelaide game was superb. He didn't provide a lot of defensive rebound, but he completely shutdown Betts. Yesterday, he was able to not only shutdown Wingard, he was able to burst from defence and create offensive thrusts from halfback. I think his game against the Power was probably even better than his Adelaide game. It was just a more complete game from him.

Whilst I agree that Matt Jones has come on leaps and bounds, Michie has not shown that he will be a champion and Toumpas is slowly building up some confidence and continuity, but hasn't quite had a breakout game yet. I expect Roos to persist with him now. At least, I hope he will for a few weeks. It will be good to give him some game time in a QB pressure cooker. He had 6 touches for a quarter and a bit, but a poor defensive effort or two. The previous round, he'd had 15 touches and 3 tackles.

Doesn't play like Rioli at all. If he continues to track the way he has the last few games, he'll be a role player. That's all Roos will ask of him. Nothing flashy, just shutdown your player and help provide rebound off half back.

full credit to jetts. He's been able to reinvent himself, probably more like he worked out what type of player he can be. He played a patch of good games last year, then get suspended. It was a shame because it really halted his development. from memory he was playing in the back line then as well. He has really narrowed in on that defensive small, he's so hard at it and tough. He's a strong tackler, and as some have suggested, sticking to a role seems to have really pushed his progress as a player. Lets see where some more confidence can take nev! He's got a lot of upside to work with, strong, hard at the ball, tackles hard and his endeavour is unquestionable. rapt to see him shut down wingard, big achievement for nev or for anyone. good job.

In hindsight, perhaps we should have kept his mate, JB too. His pace would be handy off half back at the moment. I remember a game against the Bulldogs where he took a screamer. I watched him sprint 20m at one stage right in front of us. Quickest MFC I can recall playing in my life time. Ah well. His loss. He doesn't get the chance to play under Roos.

I would like Bleese to step up. Hevhascreal pace, something we lack on the outside. I know his defencive skills are notbtherevyet, butbtheyvcan be taught -look at M Jones, even Watts. Afire and running Bleesecwould add considerably to our mid field, even off half back.

I could have added a few more but the microscope will be on these players. Who do you think steps up?

If I am not mistaken many are on the final year of contracts and will be pushing to play good footy.

Sam Blease's career is over.

Bail has improved out of sight this year.

Evans has to show some more of that GWS form from last year if he gets back in.

Straus is a gonner.

Nicholson to be delisted as soon as this year is over.

Jetta seems to have found a niche down back.

I believe it comes back to knowing his role, the other side of it is the half back can't run off and create as much because he can take a mark and he will impact the scoreboard, and having watts on the other flank is the same, those two will do damage if they aren't respected.

Bail has significantly improved both his tackling and his marking. In previous years he regulalry tackled crudely giving away free kicks for high tackles. He's fixed that. He is also now one of the best in the side at the leading contested mark - the one where he's out in front, arms up and the defender is all over him. Has done it a few times. I don't think there is any doubt about his place in the team but he'll need to keep improving if he wants to stay there.

Based on team selections (including emergencies) so far this year, you'd have to think that of those who didn't play on Saturday Michie, McKenzie, Kent, Riley, Trengove, Evans and Clisby are all ahead of Blease, Tapscott, Nicholson, Strauss and Barry. Those last five are really going to have to show something to convince the club to keep them on next year (subject to contracts, of course).
