Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It just goes to highlight his dedication to the MFC, as an earlier poster has stated this is no doubt in his time and Roos sees it fit to represent our club and lift our profile. This also gives me confidence that we are being represented in the highest degree and that Roos is quietly confident about our future outlook. This is why the likes of the golden arches and the popular cola franchise do so well, they are always out there and in the public eye.

Then he should announce soon that hes taken the 3rd year option on his contract

And hopefully stays well beyond that too

I'd be happy for Roos to drag out an announcement of a 3rd year, for optimum hype to build and media exposure.

No need to rush it.

The longer the successor isn't in place the better imo, i reckon he is getting a taste for the job again, wants to win us a flag and go down as one of the greatest coaches of all time.

Because Roos would otherwise be working at the club 8pm on a Monday night, after starting at 7am all season? Just how hard do you expect the man to work? Should he be running handball drills until the very prints wear off his fingers? Maybe you can start timing how much the man sleeps and inform the club how better to delegate the time spent by their multi-million dollar investment?

Give me a break. He'd be doing this in the very limited free time he has, as a representative of the MFC, and with the MFC's full blessing. The exposure he brings to the club is invaluable here, and is a huge part of the reason we signed him up -- he has a strong media profile with Fox viewers.

And I thought the idiotic complaints about his pre-booked African holiday were bad. Sheesh!

Didn't like the African holiday. 2 weeks missing training and delegating to staff that haven't fully proven themselves.

Plus the holiday was all about spending time with his family before the busy season starts. Now he's made the season even busier. Remember he's likely to do the footy show and/or footy classified and on the couch as well at some time during the year.

To be honest I'm not sure exactly what AFL coaches do to turn a job that at local level takes about 5 hours a week outside of Saturdays into to 80+ hours a week. The occasional opposition game live, watching game tape, planning sessions and player meetings plus repeat and repeat obviously gets them there then.

The reason we signed Roos was to coach. Any media profile was just a benefit. Jackson himself said the focus of the club under Schwab was spread too wide and needed to be dedicated to the football department and to winning games.

Plus AFL 360 audience is probably 90+% die hard loyal footy fans, it's not a great program to get new fans I wouldn't think. I would be a lot more comfortable if he did it once a month or even once a fortnight so at least when he came on he was fresh. He's going to say the same thing over and over again if he wisely doesn't want to tread on other clubs or make over the top public statements to our players.

You really are having a bad morning 'master'. Poor old George Stone is going to have to be 100 years plus in the game and then may not have proven himself in your eyes.

As for the 5 hours a week bit, now you're trolling. You are seriously not that stupid as your regular posts show, might not agree with them but at least some thought goes in.

master, you're better than this. I'm not sure you even know what you're arguing for anymore. You'd rather he did it every fortnight? Really?

Yes we hired him to coach, and this won't impact on that in any way. The potential gains are obvious, and whilst they may end up being small, they are still gains. This is a club that needs to explore every avenue to lift its profile.

I don't know what else you're suggesting he could've done regarding his holiday. He had it booked long before he signed on the dotted line and the club were doing everything in their power to get him onside.

What alternative was there? Start making demands about his personal life? Sure it wasn't ideal, but it's a one off compromise we made for the long-term benefit of signing him as our coach. And every assistant coach at the club knows his coaching style anyway.

Did anyone notice who Roos was talking to at the Fox party? Michael Voss. Could he be a possible candidate for Roos successor?

We could do worse, with a few years under Roos I think Voss could be a great coach. He had a bad start at Brisbane and never really recovered, but I think he was actually OK as a coach at the end.

I also spotted him chatting to one of the real housewives of Melbourne. New conditioning coach?

Given it was the Fox Footy launch it would seem Vossy might have a new (old) gig,

Interesting thing from his brief discussions was:

Roos felt "pressure" coaching Melbourne in the NAB, whereas during his Sydney days, there was absolutely none during NAB. I guess he realised that the membership needs hope, and the players need to believe quickly.

The other thing was his take about the modern game. Zones are out of favour as scoring is too easy if you can get through it. Man-on-man has returned more so. BUT, he was adamant that Melbourne's first task is to get "what always has been constant" right first. In other words I'm assuming, the basics....the contested stuff, the spreading, the pressure, the 2-way running etc.

Does someone have an app that can pixel-ate Yobbo's head and bleep out his simpleton, blokey, pub-talking bulldust? If you do, PM me at [email protected]

No app required, I have this wiz bang thing that does it, it's called a remote control. You hit the button and capow, Robbo is gone and your watching the cricket! Astonishing, then bam and your back, how good is that. She (who must be obeyed) tells me that a function exists to mute idiots I caught her trying it on me last night. I am trying to work out how to turn it off/on?

the master - it's AFL360.

Preparing for that show would involved no more than a promise to one-self not to enrage the ill-trained ape sitting next to Whateley.

It's an hour out of his time, and there is nothing wrong with a bit more Melbourne in the media.

During Neeld's reign we begged and pleaded for an experienced coach who would-

Teach the basics...tick

Instil confidence in our players...tick

Provide hope to members and supporters...tick

Improve our onfeild performance...tick (although early doors)

& sell the club

PR is doing all of the above, and some want to question the ability of a proven premiership coach to perform his roll because of a 15 minute segment on a high rating football show once a week...give me a spell.

George Stone fine, same with Mathews and Allison. But what about Brad Miller and Greg Stafford both new to coaching. Jade Rawlings playing and coaching career combines for a winning percentage of about 25% I guess. Plus we have a former newsagent coaching our forward line. Dave Misson has been away from Roos at Sydney for years. Not to mention Roos himself has been out of elite coaching for a few years.

The Melbourne football department is a failing business just like Qantas. What would your opinion be if Qantas hired a new CEO on record money who despite some promising early signs goes for a holiday in peak management time and schedules himself some TV work.

I refuse to put away my skepticism until I see some real and consistent results.

The thing about skeptics is they claim to be never wrong.

It is a low risk position.( I don't believe the world is round unless you prove it to me.) Once proven they jump on board like a zealot.

Go out on a limb master, what do you think not what do you know. It can be liberating.

Pub-talking bulldust I can cope with... his problem is that it's more your 'after-pub-talking bulldust', complete with slur.

It's a shame Robbo is on 360. I like Whateley. but I just can't stand Robbo.

Does anyone here like him? He's both dumb and inarticulate. How on earth did he get the job?

Guilty.

He is both dumb and inarticulate but why I have a soft spot for him is I don't see his ego/sense of self importance completely out of control as opposed to the likes of Denham and Barrett who both seem to think that the world waits impatiently for their every utterance. I have also seen Robbo say famous words that I can't recall any other journalist having ever spoken " yeah.. I got that one wrong".

Me too Nutbean.

He has an opinion but does not think that it's only his opinion that matters.

Also I like the fact he is passionate about the game and is more like a fan than some self righteous [censored] like Hutchinson or barrett

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
