NAB Challenge 2 - Melbourne v Geelong

Maybe because as Roos has stately continuously he's not a fan of throwing the first year guys in. Salem doesn't have AFL level endurance or strength. He's had a set back in preseason with a thyroid condition. He's only done part of sessions in training. And he's only played parts of two pretty modest intraclubs. He sure impressed in the first but then in the second just did well nothing too exceptional. Time to adapt to the Roos way of thinking. It's likely for the hawks game that we decrease the squad from the current 26 per game back to something like 22. I highly doubt we will see Salem.

Totally agree, game is too physical especially for a midfielder against the seasoned and physically developed Cats and Hawks.

The opposition isn't my concern. Geelong are pretty young these days and the Hawks cut you apart more than they crunch you. It's a little the length of the season but mainly the priorities for a young player. Roos wants Salem to learn how to be an AFL player before he is an AFL player. It's a pretty simple philosophy of learning to walk before you can run.

My revised team now that I know that we can have six interchange (& 2 subs) and that Pedo was injured at training today and replaced by Max King.

Back: 41. Alexis Georgiou 8. James Frawley 46. Dean Terlich,

Half Back 31. Jack Grimes 25. Tom McDonald, 14. Lynden Dunn,

Centre 4. Jack Watts 2. Nathan Jones 5. Jimmy Toumpas

Half Forward 38. Jeremy Howe 48. Jack Fitzpatrick 9. Jack Trengove

Forward 17. Sam Blease 1. Jesse Hogan 44. Rohan Bail

Followers 42. Jake Spencer 12. Dom Tyson 23. Bernie Vince

Interchange: 22. Viv Michie 18. Daniel Cross 45. Matt Jones 10. Shannon Byrnes 15. Mitch Clisby

13. Jordie McKenzie

Subs: 29. Jayden Hunt 33. Dom Barry,

,

Emerg: 26. Daniel Nicholson, 39. Neville Jetta 47. Max King

As disappointing as it is not seeing players like Viney, JKH etc its not disappointing having a coach like Roos at the helm.

Finally we have someone who knows what they r doing and how to develop players properly, manage work loads and not throw young players to the wolves to fend for themselves.

His proof is in his Sydney pudding.

We all have to be patient.

I felt very nervous last week before the match and I'm nervous again now. Must back up that solid performance.

That makes two of us.

And from before yes I am easily please I just did no know you were!

But Hunts playing?

He's in the squad. May not even play. He's also done more consistent training than Salem and hasn't had health issues. If he does play I'd imagine he'd be a sub. The real one who's been thrown in as a young guy is King but that's mainly because so many of the rucks and forwards aren't fit.

I wish I could be there, I hate watching it on television but unfortunately circumstances won't allow.

I'm not nervous though I think we will acquit ourselves well, it's a practice game and I doubt they will be going flat out, I don't think we will either. Win this and we will sell an extra 1,000 memberships, ex members will start to think that maybe there's something there.

Just having a win and potentially making it to the finals of the nab cup Would be great for the club

Unfortunately no finals in the nab cup anymore, but understand where you are coming from.

I am confident of a very solid performance tomorrow night. The midfield is playing a simple but effective game and anything like the possesion we had against the Tiges will see us very competetive. We need Fitz to stand up so we dont rely too much on Hogan. The challenge will be for the youngsters to kick a winning score against a top class back line.

Go Dees!!

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
