The Merger

nah its legit

So you can confirm that people at AFL HQ are talking about possible talks this year about a club being relocated or clubs merging at some point in the short to medium term future?

If you do not wish to give your source, or who is talking about these possible talks, would you mind narrowing down what they might be talking about? And when, after the talks become fruitful, these talks come to fruition?

Up until 2017 there HAS to be 9 games per week for at least 18 weeks a year due to the contractual obligations to FOXTEL.

If this was a topic discussing whether it should be considered it'd flow, but this is absolute crap.

Mods, I've been given warnings for putting up information and not backing it up, these threads ruin Demonland.

News coming out of AFL is that some stage this year they will hold serious talks about a merger/relocation.

Now I don't know the teams it involves but the usual names are being thrown up (us, north doggies)

Not sure what to think about this one

Another merger thread HD?

From studying your post and profile picture I can only come to one conclusion:

You are either Mark Neeld or a deluded Mark Neeld 'brown shirt' who is seeking revenge and will stop at nothing in order to take down the mfc.

Feel free to fill in the blanks but I think I hit the nail on the head.

A merger can only happen if another team is introduced as the TV rights agreement requires an 18 team competition. Can't see that happening - but relocation of a team to Tasmania isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

They could merge two and put Tassie into the open slot but good luck getting Hawthorn to exit Tasmania while they're making millions out of it.

Having said that I wouldn't put it past the AFL to do a screwjob deal with the Tassie government behind Hawthorn and North's back to give them a team if that's what they really wanted - which I'm not sure they do.

I refuse to believe a legit MFC supporter can look at an avatar of Neeld without feeling disgust and needing to change it.

Not necessarily for the man himself, but what he represents for the club.

Some people believe that The Church of Scientology is a legitimate religion in which they will all ascend to outer space.

Great clubs have great and chequered histories.

Move on.

has it happened yet?

Someone let me know when it does please. Don't wanna rock up to the Round 1 game in my "now old" 2014 MFC jumper, that'd just look silly.

Especially when we are playing out of Croke Park in Ireland...

You seem more obtuse than usual, Biffen.

Have a rest.

Did somebody take a pizz in your morning glass of vinegar?

Or do you just go through life whinging about others?

That explains plenty.

I hope you have not fallen prey to a Miscavige of justice.

Given your contacts DF, perhaps you could organise some sponsorship from Thetans inc.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
