Been advised by the club that time trials will be conducted on Friday @ Princess Park @ 7.45 am.

I guess players in rehab will not perform re Dawes, Clark, Hogan etc ... but will be very interesting the report from Matt Burgan re our MFC website .

Princess Park is pretty flat, unsure if that has anything to do with it. Although surely if flat ideal conditions is what you want, you would measure out a known track around Gosch's Paddock, and run a set number of laps.

Out of curiosity why Princess Park as opposed to say the tan or Goschs Paddock which are near AAMI Park, our gym and offices etc?

Apart from the other answers, it's always good to have a change of scenery to keep the players mentally fresh.

Or do it on an athletics track.

Haven't the foggiest - however, we & many other clubs do their 3k time trials there.

It maybe the trip they make is close to the 3k. Also the MFC have got previous runs @ the same spot to compare...

I will be there, so I will ask Josh or Todd why?

Just curious really as i would have thought doing it near where their hq is would mean they didn't have to lug equipment and players to and from AAMI park. Also I read somewhere on DL that after the trial its back to Goschs and AAMI for more training. It makes sense i suppose if previous data is from Princess Park that they run in the same place but still conditions are likely to be different and 3ks is 3ks.

Any who no biggie obviously. Can you bet on the outcome?

Could be an interesting warm down run through the city after the trials.

Good publicity and reminiscent of Lou Richards comments of weaving through the pedestrians as part of his training routines, althoug OHS regs would probably restrain any such venture.

Time trials mean nothing

Daniel Nicholson always comes in the top 2 or 3 and he is the worst player at the club

Time trials mean plenty. A great performance doesn't mean you can play but a poor performance more or less means you season is cooked in a game style requiring two way gut running with a cap on interchange. The most important thing is to see improvement from the start of pre-season or the previous year.

Time trials mean a lot.

They tell us that Nicholson is very fit. This is part of the reason why he's still around - Roos wants to see our players gut-running, forward and back, both when we have the ball and when we don't. Nicholson can do that, which we know because he dominates time trials.

The time for the time trial is only relevant to each individual player, not who wins. It's all comparative to how they went last time and if they have improved. The club wants to see increased fitness across the board. Obviously some players are better at running than others but if a players time improves they are on the right track and have been keeping their fitness up over the break. Not slacking off.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
