N.Z international rookie. Picked him up last year. Not on main list or rookie list.

Very skinny by all reports but seems to be coming along quicker than expected.

why is there cricket on the oval ? Cant remember the Filth having to put up with that...

Yeah can't remember cricket ever being there before. Not even sure what club it would be.

Of course Collingwood with Eddie McGuire on the Olympic Park board and Premier Brumby a fan would never put up with that.

Really though I don't mind training on the multi purpose oval at the moment. It's surface is in great nick and it's closer to AAMI and the public toilet. But I don't want the guys to be off the other oval for too long which with the fence around it better simulates AFL game day IMO. It would be disappointing if they are off the oval until after cricket season ie. March.

its not cricket pitches, they are just working on the ground, about 4-6 weeks ago they clawed the grass (golfing enthusiasts will know what I mean) and about 2 weeks ago I saw a group of suits and groundskeepers inspecting the oval to see how it was coming along, ( i go past often) they didnt look to happy with the centre area from end to end, they had shovels out etc. I assume they are just trying to fix those areas again by drying them out and starting again. I think you will find that the ground will be mickey mouse in a couple of weeks and we will start training on it as it is to be our training ground now.

Perfect. I went past Wednesday and didn't see a cricket pitch but did see groundsmen. I hope that's the case and we are back on it soon. As long as we are ready to go come post Christmas I wont be too upset.

Is there a training log/diary for us that have work etc. Unlike most of you generation z's doing a degree online with less than 5 contact hours per week, it is a bit hard for us to leave the office and watch. Also, unlike you baby-boomers that witnessed 1964, who are sipping on pina-colada's reading the stockmarket and complaining about low-interest rates, the productive meat-in-the-sandwich needs a bit more notice.

Can we have some indication earlier?

That would be a first for cricket at Gosch's, I looked the other day, when the helicopter decided to have a lie down the other day at the Pies ground, they had to use Gosch's instead perhaps there was a bit of damage done and they have to repair before we get on there,

Well I actually walked o n the old Pies ground today, and it certainly looked like cricket pitches to me. Sort of makes sense,why else would we not be using it for ourselves?

It's not cricket pitches, they're just doing work on the ground. It's been going on for a while now.

I say chap, going completely off topic some what, you never heard of the GFC, *some of us Baby Boomers have the same level of pathological hatred of Lehman Bros exectives as some posters on here have towards an administration whose name shall not be said)..........the more you had, the more you lost.........my pina colada has to wait for a few years yet, I am sitting in an office pretending to be productive like everybody else.............I get to training coz I have too much leave built up and I am encouraged to use it

Went along today, but it's the first one I've seen so hard to make comparisons.. but I'll go through my observations:

• Kent and Tapscott went back into AAMI after a short while and didn't return.
• Hogan, Viney, Michie, Nicholson were in a separate group doing running drills and then handball and kicking drills led by Miller. Byrnes was with them early before heading back into AAMI.
• Tyson did lots of running drills with above group / alone and looked fine, before joining another group for handball and kicking. Have to say, his reflexes by hand are bloody impressive!
• Frawley, Watts and Dunn went past (not in uniform) doing their own training and jogged across to the Tan.
• The main Group (Gawn, Spencer, Pederson, McDonald, M Jones, Howe, Toumpas, Trengove, Evans, Terlich, Fitzpatrick, Clisby) did a couple timed runs around the paddock and should be no surprise that McDonald was first each time. Followed by Trengove, Evans, Howe and Toumpas (last 3 pretty close, not always that order).
• Gawn left probably about half way through.
• Blease seemed to be on his own program. Did quite a few laps and some kicking drills with Miller.
• Clark started kicking with a trainer before joining the main group for mark > handball > kick drill and other handball drills. He then did laps with Westrupp, helping the kid out. Clarks running was good and kicking was fairly spot on.
• Westrupp looks a fair way off but having a good crack.
• Brad Miller quite vocal, firm and encouraging but having a laugh too - like the way he goes about it.
• Toumpas going pretty hard and a beaut kick.
• Spencer struggled with a few ball gathering from your feet drills but was running really well.. even overtook M Jones.
• Trengove leading from the front.

Anyway, nothing too technical but that's what I got out of it.

Great update - can you please attend each session and provide similar report! Much appreciated. Anyone know if Kent and Tappy have niggling injuries?

Kent damaged himself towards the end of the season, can't remember which bit, nice to see the Clark will not be back till after the second bye talk has stopped, managed to get a picture of him, running nicely, going to post it on my twitter

Any Sign of Lord Roos & King PJ?

I'm hoping PJ was at the first training session as a symbolic gesture welcoming Roos and that he attends a session every now and then to welcome the new players or be updated on core business but otherwise stays in his office and does some work. Seeing Schwab attend every second training if not more was a joke.

This might have already been posted somewhere but I was confused when Misson said this in his injuries update:

“Mitch, in his own words, hasn’t been in such good shape at the beginning of November in his whole career, so we’re really pleased,” he said.

“He’s over his foot issues, so now it’s about getting conditioning in, without overdoing it."

??? what does he mean by that?

Anyone?

Is he talking about body muscle because I assume he is not talking about his fitness/cardio.

Probably means he usually has a few too many bevs through the October period and has to shed a little bit of weight and regain that fitness.

Means he's not carrying any injuries and is ready for a full preseason for the first time. The club are easing in his workload until all the players are back. Great news I would think.

I agree but for mine there is no disappointment about not seeing PJ at training. Mahoney no doubt will be at most sessions but that's fair enough considering he will likely continue to be a public face for the football club on a number of issues.

The groundsmen are removing the stench of the former tenants. Due to lack of rain it lingered longer than expected.

I do agree, but after all the work PJ did to get Roosy to the club i am happy if he "Pops" over for the odd stroll....
