Might as well just put AFL logo on our jersey front and back to reflect reality.

If this happened while Schwab was running the show there would be hell to pay.

No worries for Teflon Jackson and the bosses at the AFL. ...

When does accountability start?

Im not sure why people want to continuay get knoves out, whether its for Schwab or Jacko or anyone. Companies make commercial decisions. Who reasonably coud have known the German were a bunch of inept sooks ? Its most likely Jacko and his Commercial man are already engaging new potential sponsors. Just because they havent been decent enough to phone you or me about it is hardly cause for rancour

We'll go into 14 with 2 new sponsors with all the possibility of a better deal from both.

They are opportunities. Embrace it.

Of course they are accountable , in so far as its there job to get others. Let them do just that.

No surprise here do we really think companies are busting a gut to be associated with the worst performing AFL club over the last six years.

I have spent all my life in Sales this would be close to the hardest sell there is going around.

JC would have trouble selling the MFC to a sponsor in 2014.

Not to mention, new head of commercial operations only started on the 14th.

He's had 2 whole days and already lost a sponser. Off with his head; sack roos and delist the captians.

WE can only go up.

I can distinctly remember posts when WEBJET for came on board saying what a second rate company they were.

All I can hope for is if they get Flight Centre on board I may have to sell my shares.

I did hear from within another club that they saw webjet ripe for poaching.

A team with a long held car manufacturer as sponsor that won't be on their jumper for much longer...

Whether webjet has been poached or not remains to be seen.

I buy the Media Polo and jacket/hoodie etc yearly but the jumper as well....

Suppose it all goes to a good cause..

We have a number of sponsors on various tiers, looking to increase their stakeholding. Our new commercial manager will be all over this, as is his brief. I am very confident we will get a lot more bang for our buck following an extensive commercial restructure, which is long overdue.

Forget the departing sponsor. There are a lot more opportunities opening up.

Spot on. The boss and key decision maker is a passionate Geelong supporter.

Is he?

No wonder they were looking to poach them as a sponsor.

I wondered why they had targeted them.

As an aside, I honestly see this as being another hurdle we must overcome due to our recent and longtime failures.

Opportunities like this because an influential figure is a mad supporter, are just not as common due to our lack of success.

I think you will find that most people were calling for CS's head four years in. PJ has been in the job for less than a year and has focused on other restructuring. If round 1 2014 comes around and we are still sponsorless, I think people will begin to get stroppy. Until then, just take it for what it is. It's how PJ responds to this that is what is important.

On the point of sponsorship, I seem to recall that Schwab's critics were into him from day one when he arrived in the early days of the global financial crisis and we had no sponsors and no takers due to the poor economic outlook at the time. Given this, the team at Melbourne performed particularly well and worked hard in difficult conditions. Earlier this year, I was speaking to one of the people involved in attracting sponsors and he outlined the difficulties they encountered. This included some instances of roadblocks put in their way by the negativity surrounding the club at various times which made their job considerably more difficult.
