Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We currently have 16,407 members.

Does anyone have a comparison to last year? It would be interesting to know.

After we had consecutive years of hell we all thought we were finally on our way up but instead we managed to hit an all time low, I was thinking we would be lucky to get 25,000 members next year.

Since the rearrangements of the board (PJ) and appointment of Roo's etc (hopefully more big names to come). I think we could still hit that 35-40,000 next year.

Most of those members are MCC members who join up when they renew their MCC membership which has to be paid in time for the finals each September.

Then there's the automatic roll-overs who pay monthly to add on to the MCC lot. That's why our early numbers look so much stronger these days but we tend not to grow so well once the season is underway.

I'll be buying my membership for the second year in a row as soon as I find a job. I've got $25 to my name right now. That's the price of the first payment for the armchair membership. Not going to lie, I seriously considered just buying it now. But then, I thought there might be a few things more important than getting my Dees membership early. Like food. And beer.

Yesterday was unable to renew membership throught website.

This morning received a call from MFC membership services as they noticed that the renewal attempt had failed. They quickly sorted out the problem. So would like to give lots of kudos to the membership team for a) having a computer program smart enough to detect on-line failure and b) taking the trouble to call...I actually upgraded my membership from a Redlegs 11 game to 15 games, bought a cap and considered a pet membership for the pet I don't have .

Oh, BTW the person said they are all very excited, the players can't wait to get out there, memberships are up by several thousand on this time last year and staff are hopeful of the dees making the top 10.

This has been probably the most exciting end of a season i have experienced. Usually around this time im thinking about the Cricket season coming up and i usually look down at the people counting down to the start of the AFL season and laugh to myself. Im not saying i never look forward to the next season but the last few years it hasn't been a highlight and the off season has given me a chance to restock my faith (my faith is always there but it takes a beating some years) and prepare for the first round.

This year after playing most of the year with a caretaker coach under a cloud of who will coach us, rumours flying that its Roos no its not its Williams, no wait its Roos again etc then finding out that one of our major sponsors is leaving, then losing the other. Well we got our man in the end and i feel we have done a amazing job with our free agency/trade period. Having the likes of Hogan (i know he was already ours), Vince, Cross, Michie, Riley and Tyson all in the mix for our seniors, does make our list look a lot more like a decent playing list.

Then there is all this talk about new sponsors but as all the leaks from the club have now been plugged there all rumours. There is also talk around about getting new jumpers. That's exciting for me too. not that i hated or loved the old ones and either way i was going to be getting new jumpers at the start of the year but that too is exciting. Obviously we will be getting a new sponsor/sponsors for the next season (hopefully for more then one) and new or old jumpers well as long as its red and blue and worn with pride, i am behind it (and in it).

Now onto the topic of this thread. As i type we have 19,170 members and i know a lot of them are die hard roll over members but it still impressive. All of these factors have made me so excited about next season. Now i know ill probably be jumped on here about keeping the lid on it etc but i am not saying we are going to win every game etc or make the finals etc. I am just saying i am excited about watching us play. I have spent the last decade between Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra and watching game after game on TV or at the ground when i get a chance. It got to the point where i would support because i am a life long demon supporter. Always will be, Whole family are, my Sydney supporting partner is going to be, she just doesn't know it yet. This time i am one of those people counting the days. I am on the MFC website daily, im on Demonland all the time. I don't say much on here but i read a lot. Im so excited im am looking into having a couple of trips to the NT next year along with a lot of road trips to see my family, at the MCG, when the boys play. Hopefully we can keep the numbers rolling in and next year will be the first of a lot in the right direction for the club.

Good post. I'm also excited about the off season and what next year brings.

It's incredible when you think that this time last year we were getting slammed by the media and AFL with the tanking saga....any wonder everyone's feeling good this time around.

At this time of year we have been saying for years that our aim was to get 20K by christmas.

I believe we got that a couple of times, but just fell over the line.

This year with Roos on board and Neeld overboard we may just be looking at somewhere near the 25K by Christmas.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
