Interestingly, despite media reports that Bassett is close to signing with Essendon in the coming days, he still hasn't done that... yet on the SANFL website he is quoted today as saying he'll be sorting out his coaching future probably in the next 2 weeks.

That matches Josh Mahoney's proposed timeline for appointing the successor pretty closely.

Maybe we have a shortlist including Dew and Bassett..?

My money is on BBO as Senior Assistant.

He may not be a great coach but he always quick with a come back or two!

Well all the 'more than qualified' applicants now have jobs. I guess that leaves the rookies....

Hard to believe they turned down Scott Burns.

Could it be the 'applicant' was hand picked? And was due process carried out?

Oh well Roosy will just have to stay on for 6,6,6.

Yes I believe so. I'd be interested to know if good governance and due process was carried out.

We've been bitten before.

we have indeed

Im intrigued in that its all gone ridiculously quiet. There's something afoot here.

Seems it was initially frosty , now it's thawing, perhaps dewy ?

Given the Buddy steal the Swans would get zero sympathy if we went hard for Dew...

So apparently the bombers are going to appoint Bomber as coach and Craig as an assistant.

DOes that mean we will still have to pay out his contract? (or is it solely in his hands?)

Cameron Ling helping the kangaroos next season

"Dilena also confirmed three-time Geelong premiership midfielder Cameron Ling would work with the Roos' leadership group next season one day a week, and hoped the former captain would choose the club if he moved into full-time coaching in 2015" - See more at: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-09/dons-look-to-thompson-craig#sthash.rjwuCAcb.dpuf

I'm not sure if his name has come up in this topic but what are the chances of landing Scott West?

Announced yesterday he was leaving Werribee to look at an AFL gig.

IMO he would have to be a strong candidate for a senior assistant role. He has coached his own team, with some success.

My understanding from what Roos said was that Craigy understood there wouldn't be a role for him at the club if he missed out on the senior coach gig.

Had he left of his own accord prior to the Roos announcement there would be no severance package.

He coached with Bailey, remember?

Moved on by Neeld... can't see a return to Dmonland for West.

WHy would these 2 experienced men want to pander to the EFC and to that drug cheat James Hird when he returns in 12 months

can only assume that they know Hird is never coming back

So it's ok to grill the past, but not the present? Accountability doesn't stop I'm afraid.

I'm well aware he coached with Bailey.

Just looking at his credentials, if we are casting our net wide for a successor, he should at least be considered.

Considering he was involved during those suspect years, I think it would be wise to not cast the net that far.

That net is too wide.

The coastguard is worried about that net.

I am now tangled in that net.

Hope that net doesn't constrict too far or you'll be in a heap of trouble.

I trust Jackson, Roos and Mahoney to find the right man for the job (What choice do we have?). The field of candidates does seem to be thinning though.

Heard a STRONG rumour that Stuart Dew would have already been announced had their not been contract issue.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
