Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It's interesting, my brother in law is a mad eagles member/supporter and I was talking to him about S.Selwood last night. He couldn't care if Selwood left, he said Shuey would hurt Selwood not so. Reckons if we gave up a first round pick we have been robbed. I personally think we rate players from other teams a lot higher then they actually are because our cattle is so far below the afl standard.

So... you're saying Scott Selwood is Jordie McKenzie..?

Paul Roos was spotted in the Perth suburb of Claremont today having a Chai Latte with Scott Selwood. The new Melbourne coach had made the trip west to have a chat with Jesse Hogan whilst the young Demon was holidaying in his native state, though also took the opportunity to catch up with Selwood, who is alleged to be warm to the idea of a return back to Victoria. No doubt that Melbourne would need to depart with pick no. 2 for the emerging midfielder should any deal between the two clubs eventuate.

If I was providing this information I'd share the source, rather than just say "spotted".

dont be seduced by the surname. should not be mentioned in the same breath as swallow, adams, martin when discussing trade options.

You obviously don't watch WCE games, he just had his breakout year (the stats i've shown above support this perfectly), he's also super impressive on the track and an ideal bloke you would want around your club.

Thank you Markc and Greeny.

I don't do Facebook, but am I right to say it's a far from reliable source for the trade/draft period ?

I believe the same source said on Friday night that Voss had signed on with Collingwood as an assistant coach.

That should give you an indication.

Either it's really good and the mainstream media isn't onto Vossy 4+ days later... or it's highly unreliable.

Selwood has just as many runs on the board as these blokes and just as much potential.

Whilst I now agree that pick 2 in itself would be overs, I still believe Selwood comes into calculations bundled with other picks/trades from the Eagles.

Not just this season he stepped up well in 2012 and maintained his good form into this season

Would love Scooter Selwood, but this talk of pick 2 is madness. He's a handy player but is unlikely to become a top 20 mid. A pick 2 mid should.

Pick 2 and 20 for Selwood and 6 is the only way I'd entertain giving them pick 2.

Better players available!

Lmao nice copy and paste from facebook!

Scott Selwood is currently in Melbourne with family to support his brothers.

oh and btw that facebook page is the biggest [censored] talker going around. basically he makes up all his rumours.

According to his brother Troy on SEN this morning, Selwood won't be moving. As well as being mid-contract & happy at WCE, his recently retired brother Adam will likely remain at the Eagles in an off-field role.

That interview is probably up at the SEN website by now for those interested enough

Right age, hard tackler, wins his own ball and is an excellent tagger if needed. Honestly, if a fair deal can be brokered, we will benefit massively! 2nd round pick is fair compensation or worst case a swap of first round picks. We put too much value on high draft picks in the AFL as most players taken in the top 10-15 work out well.

Look at the NFL system and they can (and do) trade picks right up to the last minute in the draft.

A few things; this trade is unlikely, a 2nd round pick is not fair compensation, pick 15 is not a second round pick, and your point about the NFL is a tangent. I don't know how it follows what you were saying about the worth of these kids.

Not discussed in the same breath as Swallow? Whys that? Do you even watch football? He is 10 times the player Swallow is. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous. Adams may become the better player but so far Selwood is far superior

selwood has been playing for several seasons and in my opinion has reached his potential. a bit of a brent moloney type. the 3 i mentioned have far more upseide and show more class in what they do. Just too young to do it consistently yet. I watch a lot of football. You are "prendergast" in your talent spotting abilities. :)

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
