Good effort with his career. Shame it couldn't have worked out better. David will always be remembered as a Port player.

That being said, despite what he may have bought to the locker room, picking him up was a mistake.

All the best in retirement Dave.

He got the best out of himself and was very unlucky with injury. Could have played a lot more games. Popular clubman at 3 clubs and great Footy Show dancer.

Don't agree.

For pick 88 and a spot on the list that would have otherwise only gone to a speculative kid or a Magner upgrade, it was more beneficial to have his influence at the club.

It wasn't ever going to be a long partnership, but I'm glad it happened.

That is a shame. I think Rodan came to the MFC with the right attitude.

He had a real crack but his knees won.

All the best. I know he was very liked within the club.

Great fella, fantastic personality, and did a heck of a lot for the AFL's multicultural work.

As far as the Dees go, he was by all reports a great mentor for Jack Viney, and I think he now makes room for us to go after Daniel Cross.

Congratulations on having such a long running career D-Rod.

Didn't know he was on a 2-year deal...

The worth of players is sometimes harder to see than what they give on the field.

He had a good career at 3 clubs and he looks to have the makings of a coach from when I have heard him speak so good luck with that in the future should he wish to do that.

I won't let Barrett's derision at his recruitment cloud what he has done.

All the best in life for David, Neeld should be charged by the AFL for bringing the game into disrepute, I can't believe he was on a 2 yr deal and that's an absolute disgrace and Pederson on 3 yrs is [censored] insanity, I can't believe that those to copped 5 yrs between them.

He hasn't done anything, Barretts right, he played a dozen games and done his ACL, he had to wonky knees before he started, get your head out of your ass and see it for what it is, A complete failure .

His tenure at a third club will be one of those trivia questions in years to come.

Something like - what was Rodans number when he played for Melbourne or how many goals did he kick for Melbourne....... I can't answer either of those

Thanks for your efforts on and off the field. That all could have been so keen. All the best with your recovery and future. Always welcome at the MFC.

Happy Dancing there Dave :)

All he took was a spot on the list and we have plenty of 'empty suits' on our list.

These types of recruiting decisions are not the ones I shake my head at. The ones I shake my head at are what we have done with first round picks from 2001 to 2007 (save for Frawley and Jones).

That is why are list is where it is and our performances stink.

And it's 'arse.'

Your a YES man, your boss says jump and you scream how high, anyone that thinks DR has been a success at the MFC has NFI about the game.

I can only hope some young player has watched his pain and wondered why an old half been keeps trying.

Seen the scars on the legs and asked what they represent, just maybe learnt something ,listened to the good time stories and now the bad time ones.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm wonder if the young fellas learnt anything from your trials and tribulations.

Thanks mate.

Where did I say he was a success?

How can anyone claim anyone at the Dees in 2013 has been a success I wouldn't know. Even Viney hasn't been given a chance to succeed because he is asked to do that which he cannot just yet.

How that means I am being a 'yes man' I don't know; I am being obsequious to whom?

No-one is left to fawn in front of; theyre all gone.

I agree with recruiting older players to help the kids out, rather than just throwing more speculative kids into the mix.

It's not an earth-shattering idea and I hope we have a few more experienced players to help for a season or two. Cross is one name put forward who might be worth it at the right price.

And it's "you're."

Look, I agree that it's hard to argue that we got amazing value out of Rodan, but this is not the time or place to pan the bloke or carry on about poor recruitment. The guy went in to battle for us and got hurt doing so, to the point where his career is over. Show some respect.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
