Injured presumably. Why would he not be playing otherwise?

This is the question. Magner and Davis were not on Misson's injury report but are missing in action! Anyone know what is going on?

Casey Scorpions Gillies 2 Corry Couch Page Pedersen Petropoulos Plummer

Geelong Kersten 4 Bathie Barham Walker Stringer 2 Horlin-Smith Hunt

Casey plays the winner of Sunday's Essendon v Werribee elimination final. The Scorpions have been eliminated by the Tigers two years in a row so it could well be a case of déjà vu.

Bad luck scorps, difficult with the lack of AFL listed players. Damn a win last weekend could have made a big difference to this finals campaign.

KC any idea who we are likely to get next week?

Yes - next week it's against the winner of Sunday's Essendon v Werribee elimination final. Likely venue is North Port Oval on 8 September.

I have made a list at home of the players I believe have qualified and will post it at the weekend.

Playing Geelong on its home patch and with the side severely depleted by injury anyway, it's safe to say we were always going to lose. The Cats apparently had18 AFL listed players.

The situation changes for Casey from next week and I believe that after, eliminating the injured and retired players, there should be about a dozen Demons available including Jake Spencer and Max Gawn which gives the team a strong edge in the ruck against most VFL teams. And following this loss, the Scorpions are in the "safer" half of the draw with Werribee and Box Hill as likely opponents on the way to the grand final if they can find winning form.

The big pity is that we won't see Jesse Hogan taking part in finals footy which would have been a good progression for him as he moves up to become a fully fledged AFL player. Given how Cam Pedersen went its a pity the club didn't qualify him for the VFL finals last week (they flew him to Adelaide to be first emergency instead) and what a pity Joel Macdonald and David Rodan had to retire? They would have added that extra ingredient of experience that is so important in finals series.

In any event, we still have some minor interest left in the season.

Casey just played Geelong in the first of the finals, Pedersen played, therefore he must be eligible. What am I missing here?

With Melbourne playing this week, Casey was able to play anybody who didn't make the team against the Western Bulldogs.

Next week, with Melbourne out of competition, the qualification rules apply. These basically require AFL listed players to have played at least six matches with their VFL affiliate during the home and away season. Pedersen played five and hence, his season is over.

I promised yesterday to provide my list of players who are eligible to represent Casey for the remainder of the finals series. Hopefully, we have a clear run with injuries which will influence the final make up of the team.

MFC was purposely holding them back, purely to [censored] off Casey and overexcited supporters...

Thanks. Thought the 6 game rule applied to all finals.

why can't joel play?

doesn't retirement mean at end of season?

When he announced his retirement, he announced that it would be effective immediately after that weekend's game against Bendigo. Unfortunately, we lost 4 or 5 players (including Hogan) to injury the same week.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
