Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

Featured Replies

And to think there were those here that wanted the MFC to fight tooth and nail over the tanking debacle. It would still be going on in court and we would be millions poorer.....

I suspect that the board want to check where they stand if they sack him.

I think he has said I will not resign

If you sack me I will sue for wrongful dismissal.

They have themselves a problem

I don't think appealing a court decision would be a lawful reason to sack someone.

For one millisecond I feel sorry for them.

I think you are right OD. Hird has called their bluff, and they are checking their legal position before they sack him. Given the quality of their legal advice so far, it would be wise to seek a second and third opinion, methinks ...

Feel sorry for them OD?! Wtf?! They resigned him to an extension when they didn't need too.

I wonder if failure to turn up to the B&F night is grounds for dismissal - lol

luurvin this

Why can't people just love me!

Because you are a self righteous narcissistic pryk.

Look up the Titus O'Reily Hird statement, brilliant.

Best thing I've read all day.

Hilarious!

Its the debacle that keeps giving and giving and giving :))

LC posted that

It is more likely to be that EFC did not have the systems and processes in place that ensured it fulfilled its Duty of Care to players. This will enable him to sue for damage to his career and lost future earnings because he won't be able to coach in the AFL etc etc.

One mouthwatering option is for the EFC is to suddenly find all the paperwork showing that Hird was responsible for the 'whatever it takes experiment'.

Little has just said Hird not sacked. Board to meet again over the weekend.

surely not:Caro said otherwise and she is always 100% correct.

He is the Essendon Football Club, just ask him.

Not really....he is far bigger and more important than EFC....ask him, or dear Tanya :-)

Given the uncertainty surrounding them at the time I was gob smacked they did that at the time, looks like one of the worst decisions they could've done.

I have a feeling Pates it was to stop him taking the AFL to court at the time.

Talk about duplicity.

The Age and EFC, what a farce. Where does the truth lay?

Paul little has to be a leader and make a decision. But he doesnt want to axe the golden boy. I laughed when he said the supporters dont want us to make a rash decision. Well Paul if you listened to the radio this morning in particular SEN you would know that 98% of essendon fans want hird gone and bomber to stay.

But good old titus summed it up on twitter.

The Essendon Board has begun voting on James Hird's future.

What the fark has happened to this club?"

A poignant lament from Bomberblitz.

It actually made me tear up.

Tears of joy that is!!!! Ha HAAA haaaa hha

So IMO its all panning out so far, as I expected back last year... I never thought Hird would ever coach again after the Essendon scandal.

I thought & still hope the players aren't hurt or tarnished, as they were lambs to slaughter.

those who brought this secretive concept into that club are the ones who should be punished, & punished hard. The Essendon administrators who new of, & gave approval for these secretive actions & the injecting house.

Did you say voting or vomiting ... Ugh

I would like to know just how much this whole episode has cost them. Plus the weapons payout etc.

apparently the weapon got $1mil settlement

Having heard him interviewed, it's 999990 more than he's ever counted to.

The Social Litigator looks at how the Federal Court Full Court might approach James Hirds appeal.

Lawyer Natalie Hickey recognises from the outset that the proceedings are as much strategic as they are legal and it's clear from her analysis that Hird has a tough job ahead of him if his appeal is to succeed. However, I suspect that this is really about the practicalities of achieving the best outcome for himself when the relationship between the club and he is inevitably eventually severed.

It's not about Essendon or the players, it's about Hird himself and probably always was that way.

In the meantime, the Bombers' list remains unchanged with only Leroy Jetta who wanted out apparently delisted and, of course, we know full well about Paddy Ryder. The Bombers' trade and draft position will be in disarray until this messy situation is resolved and it really is time for Hird to consider the good of the club and the team instead of himself.
