Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

Thanks very much.

We love you Red

... given the implications for players health and not to mention the integrity of the game ...

Perhaps of interest to recall that drugs were first banned from sport in the early 60's not because it was unethical, or cheating, but because it was dangerous - prompted in particular by the death of Knud Jensen at the 1960 Olympics. Having athletes collapse mid-race was a step too far.

I heard a theory this morning Suggesting that The judge was installed and the CEO is "retiring" because there are no charges.

Suggestion is the Government finds it unbelievable that no infractions notices will be issued.

Supposedly they ( Minister ) weas told late last year that the chances of infraction notices being issue was very low!

This is without doubt the worst thread ever on Demonland, just a bunch of people praying another club hits the wall, it's very sad reading and I hope the Bombers get off because they don't deserve what you Ambulance Drivers are hoping for , the whole bunch of you should be ashamed of yourselfs.

your right and im top of the pile.

i dont care that dons drugged players.

i dont care dons systematically cheated.

i dont care that all new players to the code will have a big say in whats injected into their body from now on.

i dont care if the bombers fold.

i dont care if jimbob implodes and never instructs young people again.

its a different opinion ,

have a nice day fella.

btw biggestred articulates this much better than i,

but looking at his haircut ,thats understandable.

Clarkson is getting the ball rolling.

More and more respected influential AFL people will speak out in the coming months.

And the messages will be clear - we dont want James Hird back in the AFL, and we will make sure it doesn't happen.

He intentionally cheated, or at very least tried to cheat, yet he is still in the hall of fame and regarded by many as a hero.

Our game is in the deepest disrepute in our history, yet some still defend him.

ASADA CEO, Aurora Andruska announces her retirement to take effect in May.

Strange goings-on in ASADA lately. Hard to know what to make of it.

very strange decision but I notice the relevant Minister is now overseeing the investigation. That too is weird.

anyone know who the minister is and who he barracks for

surely an asada investigation is supposed to be, and seen to be, politics free

Responsible minister is the Minster for Sport, Mr. Peter Dutton. Dickson QLD

No idea who he supports but unlikely to be Essendon you would think.

I wonder who Rupert or Gina barrack for.

I wonder who Rupert or Gina barrack for.

The highest bidder (which, come to think of it, is probably themselves, as WYL said ... )

I will still be injecting this season with Essendon jokes....I may have a stab at doing this quite often....although knowing my pigs brain I probably wont think of any good ones

MJT youve obviously missed the whole point... by a mile

do yourself a favour and start from the begining and get yourself a realistic and balanced appreciation for the whole thing

A difference between ambulance chasing and the seeking of a balanced outcome, one that deals with the actual situation and goings on as opposed self interested and compromised spin

Yes BB I can see the difference now

So you hope they get off because of what we think? Not because they are innocent or anything irrelevant like that, huh?

And ambulance driver is far from the derogatory term you think it is. If more people acted like them the world would be a better place (and, no before you ask, I'm not fit to shine their shoes. I don't have their class and compassion which is why I'm happy just slowing down to gig at the accident).

I feel no shame the EFC are a dirty cheating pack of filth who are now reaping what they sowed

Not sure why But I am getting a feeling you don't like them.

I assume he meant 'ambulance chaser' which is a derogatory term. Either way, his postition is completely wrong as several posters have argued.

In any case, neither the ambulance chaser nor driver metaphor has much relation to the point he was trying to make.

Well done biggestred for taking on the responsibility of pricking our collective consience through the use of humour.

I've got an uneasy feeling, my early thoughts will come to pass, & nothing will happen of any real consequence to the bombers.

Oh, & hirds on a paid working holiday overseas, getting his AFL sponsored tuition.

I don't want to see or hird of < him ever again, on an AFL field !!!

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
