Add Ian Stewart.

Three Brownlows.

Three premierships.

One of the game's greatest players.

Not a coach's clipboard.

Yeah, I just think eade or Williams might be 'jumping the shark' a bit...

Roos has been talking to Brisbane too. And given that the AFL is every bit as worried about the Lions as they are about the Dees, there is every chance Roos will head north to Brisbane (although West Coast presents a solid coaching environment). And, and since the AFL wants an experienced hand at Melbourne, Craig or Williams would be seen as good fits for the Dees.

"Set to be offered another 2 years" is not will be offered another 2 years. The Brisbane heavies can hardly come out mid-season and say Voss is in the gun, and they would be stupid not to inquire about Roos' availability.

After he destroyed the culture at another Club?

Aside from Neeld I can't think of a coach who has as badly damaged the list and culture in such a short space of time.

And given you think Voss had Browm, Black and Power at their peak his poor results speak for themselves.

I agree with your sentiments about Voss but the Neeld example is over the top. Neeld wasn't able to get this side winning but saying he destroyed the list and culture is ridiculous.

Add Voss to the list of potential coaches. We could do worse. Triple premiership player, captain, Brownlow Medalist. You name it, he has done it as a player. As coach he has made mistakes yes but surely you learn from 5 years in the hot seat. Good candidate I say.

But let us make a decision soon because everytime we are in the market for a coach, at least 5 other clubs join us and compete for the available talent. It appears to be happening yet again. Could be us, Lions, WC and who else?

Sorry mate, Voss doesn't even hold a candle to Mark Williams and Rodney Eade.

I'd even rather Neil Craig.

Reasons for statements would be appreciated?

You mean the same club that defeated Geelong a few weeks ago?

Clearly a shocking list and culture...

After 5 years he has taken the club backwards and squandered the remaining opportunities with Brown and Black.

He jettisoned a true club champion in Bradshaw and brought it social and culture cancer in Fevola on a ridiculous contract that financially crippled the club and shamed them publicly throughout his stay.

He trashed a B&F winner in Michael Rischitelli in the trade.

He dumped Lachie Henderson in the Fevola trade who is now a key forward with Carlton.

They unbelievably traded their 2007 first round pick for another washed up culture sore in Travis Johnstone.

Brisbane still have not recovered financially or performance from that disaster.

And you criteria for club culture is one good quarter against Geelong?? You're kidding.

You must really rate MFCs culture then....I mean we did have one good quarter against GWS this year.

Needs, we need a coach who knows how to build a team, Voss failed in doing so.

That is where I am assuming Voss learnt big time. There hopefully are not anymore Fevola's out there but I take your point. What we don't need is a new coach to come in and ride over the top of Todd Viney and co in the draft selections and find we are sacrificing first round kids for ageing hacks. We have been there recently for limited return.

Roos was never coming here anyway. No guarantee he's going to the paddles either, but you'd want to hope if you were a supporter that they have something in the pipeline otherwise it's a very harsh, and frankly reckless decision, especially when it's a club legend on the receiving end.

That's why an Eade or Williams would be good, they understand exactly what is required to build a list, to develop players and to unite a club.

Big assumption.

Massive brain fade in the development of a list.

Massive brain fade when he kinghit a member of the public outside a bar in Melbourne 5 years ago.

A common lack of sound judgement, reckless at list development and a poor record of success is hardly what we need at MFC.

I would rather punt on Adam Simpson or keep Neil Craig.

Gee, sacking the biggest legend in the club's history, during the season, when the side is actually going ok.

I would imagine the people, including some Demonlanders, who rubbished the MFC for not RENEWING Junior's contract for another year, at the end of the season, must be outraged at a club legend being sacked mid season and treated so appallingly.

Hardly, he cost the club plenty and burnt up his credits earned as a player. He has taken the Lions nowhere in 5 years.

Mark Neeld?

When was Mark Neeld a club legend at any club ever?

Biffen and myself have been trying to get back to our "Fitzroy roots" ,for some time, without success. Please give us a hint Clint ( like the rhyme) we are friendless.

If I was you and Biff I'd begin at The Worker's Club (Rob Roy) and then head north to The Old Colonial Inn and so on.

I said he badly damaged the list and culture.

And I guess it was a minor issues not getting the side to win...an all.

Tongue in check. The poster I responded to appeared to be claiming that Round 20-21 was mid season.

I think any reasonable minded person would say that despite some mistakes early on, he now had them tracking upward. Their list is in good shape, and the performances of the last several weeks make the timing of this more than a bit suspect.

Wouldn't sack a coach at this stage for no reason, clearly more to this.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
