Casey Scorpions v Essendon

KC from Casey

Recommended Posts

The Scorps won easily last time they met in one of the early rounds.

Will Casey overcome its injury woes and beat the Bombers?

The game v Essendon is the club's annual Pink Ribbon game. The players will wear pink jumpers to support Breast Cancer Awareness.

Congratulations to Casey Scorpions Captain Evan Panozza who will this week play his 100th Senior VFL Game for the club. A great achievement in the VFL these days!

Time for Taggert and Tappscot to show some improvement, they need to finish the year strong.Same for Strauss but think he is closer having been in the best the last 2 weeks.

Definitely in regards to Taggert and Tynan, it's about time they showed something to warrant a game in the seniors.

Strauss - don't really care because he shouldn't be on the list much longer, he just isn't up to it (one of a number on the list who aren't).

Strauss and Jetta are two guys at Casey who will stay on the list i reckon .

They can do that kicking thing when the ball spins properly and hits a team mate on the chest .

Joel mac ,Jodie, Nicho ,etc have seen them do it but cant quite follow suit .

Davis and Barry will stay.

Taggert ,Tynan , Couch ,Magner etc are the midfield types that wont make it in AFL.

We can't keep carrying blokes who can kick and do nothing else, both of those guys fail to win the ball more than 10 times in an AFL game anyway so what's the point of being able to kick properly?

They, along with Nicho and Joel Mac should be off the list as soon as possible so that we can take a punt on some new draftees. There isn't anything to be gained by waiting for blokes who will never be good players, to become good players.

Strauss is contracted for another year I believe so unless we find a trade he will stay.

Jetta and Davis will go, both OOC and been on list a few years and neither can make our team. Must be moved on.

I noted an article during the week with Gilbee talking about how Eade turned his career around by believing in him and instilling confidence back into his football. If Eade ends up coaching the Dee's I think Strauss will become our Gilbee.

I like Strauss. If he plays well this week he surely comes in.

I did say at the start of the year he would have a break out year and that was a dud call, so who knows, I could be wrong, but I see a decent footballer there unlike many others on the list.

Do you think that he can turn Davis into another Gilbee?

I havent had the opportunity to see Taggert or Tynan, but I do recall posters here saying that (I think it was) Taggert ...."will be an absolute gun". Does anyone here now seriously think he will be? Has he shown any signs at all?

Taggert is a very good footballer but needs to be played in the midfield. He is being waisted at the moment but has come off a bad injury last year.

Has some really good attributes, size, kicks goals and has some good pace at times. He does seem to be having a lot of trouble with injuries though.

Tynan, nfi about him. Has he been injured?

With Box Hill losing to the Northern Blues and Williamstown struggling against Port Melbourne, a win tomorrow becomes doubly important to the Scorpions with the VFL announcing finals venues. The top two teams have the right to home ground advantage in the first week of the finals.

Qualifying & Elimination Finals

Top two teams at the end of the home and away games would be eligible to host a home final.

Two remaining games will be at North Port Oval, Port Melbourne.

Week 2 (Saturday September 7 Sunday September 8)

Semi Finals

Both games at North Port Oval, Port Melbourne.

Week 3 (Saturday September 14 Sunday September 15)

Preliminary Finals

Both games at North Port Oval, Port Melbourne.

Development League Grand Final to be played on Saturday September 14 as a curtain raiser.

Young Guns game to be played on Sunday September 15 as a curtain raiser.

Week 4 (Sunday September 22)

I heard the same about Cook, Bennel, Morton and Gysberts.

with both feet.

Like to see that!

Still a push up for Davis. I know there are only a few of us. But would still like to see him given at least some opportunity. Don't think he has done much wrong and would hate to see him on Geelong or some other clubs rookie list.

I agree Docket.. IMO Davis has other attributes, to counter those he doesn't have, yet.

I remember many, & some of my friends, running Frawley's name ragged with "useless" tags for many years, before he hit his straps.. & then everyone wanted to ride on his back, & bandwagon...

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
