It is only a rumour, but lets just assume, for the purpose od debate, that it could have merit, Essendon would need to add something else to us. Don't know what that could be, but we are getting massive under on this (fictional) scenario.

What else do we want?

Melbourne - in - Vince and Myers

Out - pick 2

Essendon - in - pick 2

Out - Crameri, Myers, pick 22

Adelaide - in - pick 22

Bulldogs - in - Crameri

Out - pick 22

Haha Essendon fan what jokers

They basically expect pick 2 for Myers

Nah I like it - keep the trades coming I say

But those Essendon flogs who made that rumour up need to do better

While I don't hate it, and let's be honest that trade is probably a loss for us, I think we are seeing that pick 2 this year to us is a lot less valuable than it was in the past in terms of a high end draft pick. We can discuss the poor development or the wrong choices if players until we are all black and blue in the face. However, the simple fact is that we need to inject 2 bigger bodied midfielders straight into our team for round 1, and if that's getting a 28 year old and a 24 year old, both of which will instantly help, then I have to say I'm probably for it.

Yes it is likely that aish or Kelly will turn into a great footballer for their club in a few seasons time, but do we have that? Do we have the enthusiasm (not to mention financial viability) to endure more seasons with low competitiveness? I think with development and some stability at coaching and fitness levels, we have the prospect of trengove, Evans, viney, toumpas and watts all playing 18-20 games as well as grimes, both jones boys and Mckenzie already playing on ball. You find some improvement from Strauss, bail, Nicholson, blease, tapscott, clisby, kent and Howe, you have the makings of a competitive midfield after the addition of Myers/vince/cross or whoever else it may be.

I know exactly what I'm talking about.

You clearly don't.

Essendon just had their 1st & 2nd round picks taken off them.

That's it.

I'm not the one trying to tell people otherwise.

Ta - Da!

Listen Machsy, I talk footy - sometimes, I make mistakes. It's all good natured and, this time of the year, can be a good laugh.

Calm down. I won't bite any more. Pop me on ignore (whatever the option is) and we can all move on. Yeah? Thanks.

Essendon to pay our salary cap for the year.

Yes Dallas and during this trade period we all need a good laugh!

Maybe I have missed something, but has Myers been officially cleared by ASADA? If not, keep well away IMO.

Bombers not giving enough and we're not getting enough - they'r not giving 22, just Myers and Crameri, they need to add another decent player (and not Jetta) because they can't add a decent pick with their first pick around 50..

I am over this pick 2 debate. I honestly think we get some afl experienced mids with our sylvia compo and later picks or psd and just use pick 2 on the best kid in the draft. That way we get some top up experience with later picks and psd but we also get a ready made midfielder who can play 8-10 years. So keep pick 2 and use later picks on afl players and after next season if we are more successful than previous ones suss out free agency. No use trading pick 2 this year as all the good players are staying put now.

And I quote Paul Roos - "I wont be coaching next year". This is a 3 week process - after the 3 weeks I will be over it. Until that time - no doesnt mean no . If at that time no genuine pick 2 quality players is up to be traded then we get a kid. But as far as I am concerned - no means no at the end of the 3 week trade period - until that time keep asking the question to any player manager whose player we have interest in whether the manager has said no or not. If Peter Jacksons approach with Roos has taught us anything it has taught us that.

sen-i'le rumour, just too idly lazy to be an interesting ideea.

I tell you what, lets give our 2ndRnd pick to the Crows for Vince, & spend our Sylvia compo pick @ Myers?

or Use our 1st pick for the draft, & if we must trade that player down the track for a real bounty. Aish for BCrouch, Scharenberg for BCrouch, or Boyd/Clark for Gaff-Shuey

Unless we get Dom Tyson (I haven't heard anything solid about him), it would seem we won't be trading for any gws players at this stage.

It's stating the obvious but we are not a great destination for young players at the moment. At least that is the perception and you know what they say about that.....

I really hope its not Melbourne leaking this rumour to test the waters!

yes we have time & no, we don't have to undervalue this pick.

Rome wasn't built in a day & neither was the Sydney Opera house.

don't sell the farm to the chinee for short term gain. just sell the produce. & turn that revenue into what we can make of it.

Melbourne - in - add certification from WADA that any Essendon players involved in any deal have complete immunity from sanctions as a result of any investigation past or present into that club's supplements programme. Edited by KC from Casey

The worst part about that trade scenario is the fact that Essendon are the ones making away like bandits.

The way it's panning out, I think we need to accept that we will be paying overs no matter what the scenario.

I don't have trade radio. Have any trades been completed today?

This has got to be the most boring trade period in history. The AFL have buggered up by having the free agency last for 2 weeks. Pretty much everything is done within a day as the Free agents know when they want to leave or not and the clubs know they won't match it. They should have one week for free agency and then 3 weeks for trades. It's obvious all the trades are being held up because no one knows what compo they will get.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
