Does anyone have a grasp of Gerard Healy's true relationship with the MFC?

Obviously (thanks, Trenners) his brother is the Football Director. Many here deride and question him, but I can't help but think that there is more at play here.

How he teed up Brock McLean to open the tanking debacle again that ultimately flushed out Schwab, McLardy and others on the board.

The fact in the media he somewhat set the agenda for the timing of Neeld going - bye bye at the bye.

I have heard that he is very well connected and regularly discusses the state of the game with many key powerbrokers.

Could it be that Gerard has had more involvement in all of this than we truly appreciate?

I saw him surfing with Nathan Jones one morninga few months ago. Does that count as discussing things with key powerbrokers?

I think he's closer to MFC than most other clubs for what its worth.

Interesting theory, if a little far fetched. I don't think Healy is responsible for deliberately flushing out Schwab via McLean. In fact, I'd say he brought a lot of needless pain to the club. Schwab would have lost his job anyway following the Essendon game IMO. Not being a Melbourne person, I can't see his motives in this. I think the McLean thing was his attempt at 'hard hitting journalism'. On The Couch tends to get a few big admissions though. You could say that Essendon may have used it as a forum to test the waters with Watson the other night.

He did not tee up Brock. There was another player, I can't remember who, that was going to be on that night. That player could not come and Brock was organised as the replacement.

If he exposed the MFC to the tanking investigation just to get rid of a CEO and a President then I'd have no respect for him at all, to put it very mildly. There are ways of removing people without clobbering the club, or even risking the destruction of the club.

Gerard is a Swans man, he left our club nearly 30 years ago.

Every time Gerard Healy opens up about Melbourne he calls into question the probity of Greg Healy. To whit: is Greg dishing to Gerard, either accidentally or on purpose.

In the world of security . Healy would be seen as a liability. Thats Greg not Gerard.

Loin chop said on FC that he left Melb because there was bad blood. he didn't say with whom. He also said that that was now over so I am guessing the people involved are gone.

I wasn't living in Melb when Healy left the MFC so have no recollection of what happened but its fair to say he has done us no favours in the past 15 -20 yrs. In fact it appears he has gone out of his way to pot us,

AS far as I am concerned he is a [censored] and should stay well away from the club.

Lyon also said that if Gerard Healy was getting info from the club :"it wouldn't be his brother. He's got a direct line to the board". The obvious implication being that someone else was leaking to Gerard. Appeared no great affection from one No. 3 to the prior occupant of the jumper.

Ironically, it was Nathan Jones who was due to appear.

Can't remember why the club pulled his appearance though.

I think we may have suffered a bad loss that week.

Trust a poster with the moniker "Machiaevelli" to open a thread about Gerard Healy and conspiracy theories involving that episode of On the Couch.

Sounds like the one a poster once sent me about the goings on in the green room before the actual interview and about the questions that were asked and the ones that weren't.

$500k plus, plus & plus, substantial disruption and dislocation to the club, heavy defeats, some sackings, resignations and other penalties, the club was on its knees but surely, not a conspiracy?

My informant who works at Quicksilver (under Greg) says:

He is a much better big wave surfer than Sugar, who isnt bad.

They are both Melbourne men thick and thin. He lost me there but hope he is right. Kinda like Snape.

they discuss all questions for every guest in the greenroom preshow

no conspiracy, if the guest says not to ask a certain question, then its off the table

if they will answer that question , then its put into printed sheet preshow by director

I sorry but cant respect a guy who left his club to chase the money unless its in the present day where that the expected thing to do.

GH its time to go as you have been voted off the Island (Australia).

So off to Tasmania for you.

mmmm he could of said hes not going to discuss the matter and it would of been off the table

what a boring interview that would of been

same with jab Watson, he was asked in the greenroom preshow. and could've said it wasn't up for discussion

this is a normal practise on every SHOW

Brilliant conspiracy Gerard, flawlessly executed, we've just cemented 17th spot, cheers mate.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
